OK, good - sounds like we had a close call there. Just so you know, with your PF membership comes a quick LBA relief kit. Any time you think you have enough lenses, go check out the sample photo section. Guaranteed to straighten you out and add two more "must haves" to the list.

Have you tried setting up on a tripod in good light outdoors and taking a series of shots with both lenses? I'd shoot several different f stops starting wide open at selected focal lengths to get a feel for how they perform as you stop them down. It might be really obvious once you are looking at the exact same shot side by side. Part of my LBA manifestation is to shoot a series of the front of my house with most new lens acquisitions. Shows up edge sharpness, contrast, purple fringing, distortion, all sorts of stuff. Now, as far as too many lenses. Not even close. There are eight alone on the table top about me, and that's not counting the three attached to camera bodies... ;)

This is why I have kept my copy of a Tamron 28-75/2.8. You can pick up a used one typically for a bit under $200. Not bad for a lighter walk around on the K-1.

Can't help but wonder if Pentax was peeling away sales with a "better" lower priced full frame solution with the K-1/K-1 II. Is this Canon trying to grab back a part of the market Pentax was nailing? Pentax certainly had the bang for the buck quotient nailed.

Agree. This is where the "warm" setting of your oven is tempting. Just got to be sure it really doesn't get too warm. What's the max safe temperature from something like this?

I'm not seeing it - please clue me in. I tried clicking on the little menu grid of 6 dots on the top right, clicked on the "translate" icon, and it seemed to just leave me on the same page. :o

I'm not seeing the url option either. However, if I put the url into the Chrome browser, it translates. Wonder if it's another one of Google's ways of trying to entice you into using Chrome?

Good to know - thanks, but the good thing about rice, is almost everyone has some flavor available as an instant hands on resource to start the process. ;)

When coming in from outside and cold, do you put the camera in a plastic bag to help protect against condensation as it warms up? That would be worth trying to see if it helps. Also, you can put the camera in a bag with dry uncooked rice to help dry it out.

10-17mm Fisheye - Lowest price alert - $297!

If only money was free, I'd go for it! ;) A big part of how I landed with the Rokinon was from the lens comparison review here Rokinon 8mm vs. 10mm vs. Sigma 8-16mm vs. Pentax 10-17mm Ultra-wide Showdown Review - Introduction | PentaxForums.com Reviews, and how well the Rokinon did. I liked the way the Rokinon maintains more of the original shape of objects near the periphery - check the pictures of the lamp post towards the bottom of this page: Rokinon 8mm vs. 10mm vs. Sigma 8-16mm vs. Pentax 10-17mm Ultra-wide Showdown Review - Rectilinear vs Fisheye | PentaxForums.com Reviews And then in general, the colors, contrast and sharpness on the Rokinon seemed very nice, so I decided it would be a good fisheye companion. Then thinking the other end, the DA 15 is so nice for the combination of rendering and size, it would be hard to replace it with the zoom. And besides, if I don't keep telling myself stuff like this, I'll buy the 10-17, which will make justifying the 11-18 even harder.

Can't believe this lens is still on sale for this. I'm in the same mindset. The only thing keeping me from hoping on this is that I already have the Rokinon 8mm fisheye (which is at B&H for an amazing $199 as I type this, and if you want a fisheye to go with your 11-18....) and the DA 14 and DA 15, and DA* 16-50, and despite strong LBA desires for this one too, with all the overlap, and really really wanting the 11-18... :D

Something else on the Peak Design is the cording that's bonded into the round clips is designed to change color when stressed and in need of replacement. Their fasteners are solid and easy to use. Really like what I have from them - a slide strap and a hand grip that lets me solidly handle my K-1 with one hand. I can clip either on/off easily as needed.

That's a really good point I honestly wasn't thinking of. I have a 60-250 with the modified baffle, and love it on my K-1 (and of course on my K3II). I like the modified 60-250 so much it's hard to imagine giving it up, but I'm not shooting anything fast moving with it. For those subjects, I grab my 55-300 PLM, but that obviously doesn't do much good on the K-1. Eliminating the focus breathing would be nice too. It will be good to see this lens added to our choices.

Obsolete data sources is one of the huge ironies of all the information we're generating. Not only is finding the hardware and being able to even operate the hardware from a modern device and operating system a huge challenge moving forward, but the data formats change so that finding software to read the old files is incredibly challenging as well.

So, perhaps two more lenses this year? The 70-200/4 in the first half and the 85 in the second half? Really want to see how the 70-200 compares to a modified baffle 60-250.

Quite pleased to see this lens. January isn't over, and we've got two nice new additions to the lineup. I can't shell out another grand for a lens at this point in time, but I could put this on the short list, and the new coatings and ergonomics give it appeal that the older version doesn't. I understand the desires for modern glass added to the lineup, and I guess I'm confident enough that these new lenses will come to be happy seeing this now. I do also think it helps move Pentax to being more competitive (whatever that means) with the other "big" makers when people survey the range of lenses available. People do complain about not having enough choices, and this helps that in a very classic and useful focal length.
