also, do believe that the KP -or- K-70 has a smaller battery / less "life" than a K-5, K-3, K-1 series if that is of a concern..

Just wondering if the film era screens (ME, MX, ME SUPER, etc.) will work in the K-3/K-5 series cams.

I remember having a split screen in my film cam & wondering if it might be intechangeable?

Thought I'd ask before trying the switch.

Remove it, toss it..cut a proper length & width of velcro (before tossing, use it to measure), that has sticky backing already. Your choice..either the "fuzzy", or the "hooks".

Like duct tape..velcro has many uses...

P.S. and to note, yes I ride year round, yet I may be dumb, yet not stupid, so given inclement weather conditions, the motorcycles will stay put & I will join the caged hoardes..

Like mentioned previously...Learn the Mount first..before trying to Image...A good polar alignment & then refinement using the align/goto functions of the mount will make targeting easier...Then you'll have to struggle with live view focusing on a bright star....no need to rush things...the universe will always be there....

Have you read the manual? You may have to turn the Dec axis (where the cam's mounted) 90^ (so the cam is horizontal)( to be able to sight through the PS.

Yes, you will need the dovetail, yet will then have to connect the cam/lens some how. Could probably use a short 1/4-20 thumb screw in the rear hole of the dove tail & attach the lens collar to that. Yet, with only one point of attachment, there is a possibility of the assembly turning-or-twisting on that one point, depending where pointed, or if that screw doesn't get tight enough to allow a good solid attachment.

Here is my solution for a more rigid attachment, and allows for lens/cam rotation if wanted to help frame the target. You could probably rotate using the collar, yet as mentioned, it's not a very
secure way to mount it.

You will have to do some figuring out things when you actually have the mount in hand....

Posted a reply in the Astro Imaging Group to your concern. The 3200 would be a great choice..able to expand a bit down the road..(ie; add a "formal telescope" (small refractor) & guiding. The other small trackers you have listed will be a struggle with your weight. Perhaps I'll get around to taking a pic of the LXD55 & cam/lens I'm using for unguided images & post it up so you (and others) can get an idea perhaps.

The "little" trackers would work fine for a cam & semi light weight wide field lens....yet will need a little more robust mount when hanging a "weighty" combo to get acceptable results.

Others have tried using the trackers with that kind of weight..some have had some success, yet would need to be counter balanced, and they only track in RA, no DEC tracking. Both are preferred over
just one, esp when not formally guiding.

Just get the 3200 and be done with it (for now)....

Try changing the ISO, exp time & shutter opening. It will take some experimenting, yet will be worth it in the long run. Best not to just settle on one setting..play around..

Those results now have me really considering getting the recently aquired "slightly used" K-5 I grabbed from Adorama modded. Being on the fence has now become to almost the jumping off point. I don't have the cam in my possession as of yet though..

After attending a concert last summer and waiting for traffic to clear, walked around and tried my hand @ some moving objects.
All are straight .jpg's directly from the cam, no post fiddling. Sharpened a bit when resizing.

Kinda "fun"..

Grabbed a used "Excellent +" condition K5 from Adorama...just couldn't resist...had to have...it might be destined to be modded for Astro use...will have to check the shutter count upon receipt to see how "used" it actually is...also snagged a Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 135mm f2.8 Ver II manual focus lens that was listed as a "demo" ...not sure of how good that lens might be for "normal" photo's, yet it will fill a "gap" in the Astro selection...:D
