Thanks for the heads up.I really do not wish to take the matter to such explosive proportions.

>The battery is almost entirely inside, and tightly stuck. Only a small portion of it exposed : I don't think the glue can do it. I have got this suggestion before ,although did not try it.
> Yes the screwing thingy does not sound good at all. I prefer not to do this.
> I have tried with some weak & light "L" shaped metal because the space is really narrow. Apparently they do not have the pull/power to take such tightly stuick battery out.
>The battery is stuck inside the battery compartment ,the door won't shut due to this. I've tried to punch with my palm just above the battery compartment with the battery facing ground. After repeatedly trying, my palm went red.But no change in battery position. Tough luck.

>Hi Mark ,I have thought about trying the ribbon thingy. But , as you can see only tiny space is available, and I did not find any way to put a ribbon in that space & under the battery.

> As of now, the Plier method sounds most feasible in my case,I have couple of spare batteries so no problem. As the space is narrow, might just try out with a Needle Nose/Long Nose Plier and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm a proud owner of a Pentax K-50 camera. Today, while inserting the battery in the camera, I wrongly put the opposite side of the battery & accidentally pressed forcefully. Now the battery is stuck in the slot and not coming out. Kindly see the photo attached.

> Can this be fixed at home ?

> Or should I take it to a camera repairing shop? The nearest one is about 10Kms away from my home.

Problem setting up k-50 with Takumar Bayonet 135mm

Yes. This helped me.
However, the procedure looked kinda big, so I have tried just one step from it. And it worked.
This is what I have done :
1. Set "Use Aperture ring" to "2-Enable".
2. Slide the dialer to" TAv" mode. Restart the camera.
3. Now camera will ask you to enter the Focal length manually. In my case, I entered 135.

That's it. Blam.Blam.Blam. I am able to take pictures right away & I like what I see.

Thanks for your valuable input. Very useful.
Have a nice day :)

Problem setting up k-50 with Takumar Bayonet 135mm

Hi,
Just got a good copy of Takumar 135mm F2.5 Bayonet via mail yesterday. Trying to test the lens today on my k-50.As this is a k-mount lens, it clicked into place right away & ready to go. Viewfinder nice and bright. However, when I try to press the shutter nothing happens. What am I missing? Is there any basic set up that I have to do first? I'm shooting in "Av" mode and controlling the aperture and focus from the lens, both rings are smooth.

BTW, I use couple of other manual focus lenses on my k-50 with M42-to-k adapters. They work like charm on Av mode with tack sharp pictures.

Tamron 70-300 not working after k50 firmware update

If aperture ring means the dial that I use to increase / decrease the aperture value... It use to work fine earlier (don't know what is setting it to "A" means)... However the problem is now solved it seems.....all I did was unmount it for few hours, then shot with a Pentax lens, when I put back the Tamron again (camera is always on Av mode without changing any settings) the camera now recognizes it and also seems performing a bit faster under low light... Thanks a lot for your suggestions... Cheers☺

Useful info.... Also wrist watch and/or smartphone apps can do the trick too... Does not mean Pentax should not consider adding this feature to their future cameras....

Hi guys..... I'm having a Pentax K-50 which worked with all my Pentax & third party lenses before.... Few days back I updated the camera firmware to latest version i.e. Version 1.02, now my Tamron 70-300 does not work with k-50...apparently the camera is not recognizing the lens.... It worked like a charm before... What should I do?

Keep your lenses in a closed glass jar filled with silica gel to avoid fungus & stuff like that.......... they are reusable & damn cheap off ebay...

Long Exposure Shots With K50?

Sorry I could not find any "DA 15 mind control" thread ... It would be very kind if you can point me to the thread ...
I almost made my mind on the 15 limited but then again Sigma 10-20 is a strong case to go much wider at 10mm & it works well with the filters , also the 15 is not the fastest at f4 ....... Rokinon 14mm f2.8 is faster & great image quality for a cheap lens (no problem going manual for landscape shots) but from the looks of it ,it might not take a filter at all although I'm not sure .......
Only advantages of 15 it looks like great performance shooting in sunlight & WR which will make a WR combo with k50....
Decisions decisions ...

Long Exposure Shots With K50?

For the filters I might go with the Hoya .... I have 3 of their UV for my older camera I just love them .... Hoya Variable ND filters are pricier than the ND filters & I have heard lots of complains with the image quality using VND when compared to their ND counterparts ....
About the lens I'm considering the Sigma 10-20 over the 15 limited ....... my friend use it for his canon mount & all praises for it ...... image quality is great at 10mm & this lens works well with the filters for a wide angle....so basically I need one (or two) ND filters for 77mm size only...

Long Exposure Shots With K50?

Hi guys , I want to take 2minute+ long exposure shots of waterfalls & rivers with my k50..... few lenses I'm considering right now are 15mm f/4 limited (want to get that wide angle for landscapes) , 18-55 , 18-135 ..... I also want to use ND filters on the lens to get the smooth effect of waters .... now as I'm new to pentax cameras It would be helpful to know

1. Has anybody tried ND filters on the 15mm f/4 limited ... does it work fine for long exposures ?

2. Any suggestion/experience for 18-55+ND filter or 18-135+ND filter ?

3. Can anyone suggest me a remote shutter release specifically for k50? A cheap Chinese one will do ...

Thank you,
