I like the cafe. I've been spending a lot of time there. I've picked up a few lenses at FM. I do like the idea that you have to pay to sell at that site.

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. I currently had a Canon 50D with mostly ef-s lenses. I was debating between the 5DII vs D700. Both are great camera's, and since I was selling off pretty much all my lenses anyways. I thought I'd look into the D700.
I now own a Nikon D700. I decided I wanted the D700 because I don't need all the MP and the video. I wanted the AF from the D700. After receiving my D700, the build quality is a lot better then my 50D and it's heavier also. Overall I am happy with my decision. I just received my D700 about a week ago and I'm still trying to configure the camera to my liking.

I enjoy NikonCafe. I'd like to view the classified section, but it'll probably take me 2-3 years to get to the 300 post count

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Currently I have a canon 50d, but I have 3 ef-s lenses so I'll be selling them when I go FF.
I like the features of the D700 more with it's lower MP and the better autofocus. But browsing Nikon's lenses, they are really expensive compared to the canon equivalent. If you go 3rd party then you can save a lot there. I do know you can put DX lenses on the D700, but it crops the image and they are only a little over 5MP.
As for hi-iso. I haven't figured out which one is better.
Right now, I'm leaning more towards the D700. I don't need video or the 21MP.

There is a spot to store your battery door in the grip. Well that is on my 50D. Around the part that goes into where the battery is on the camera. There's a spot for you to store it there. I'll see if I can find a picture for you

I prefer to use Lightroom. I used to do everything in Photoshop, but now I do everything in Lightroom. It takes some time getting used to it, but once you get the hang of it, it's just moving sliders. Plus there are free presets(actions) you can download off the net too.

I'm selling off my camera and flash that I haven't used in a while. I've sold all my lenses back in Feb and I just haven't touched the camera since. I'd like to sell the camera and flash together shipped for $300 OBO. I'm not really sure what to ask for this but I think this is a reasonable price for the camera and flash. If you think my price is high, just send me an offer.
Camera (*ist DL) will come with the kit lens and also a 2 gig memory card. Lens also comes w/ a UV filter. I still have the box and accessoires.
I'll get pics of the camera and lens when I get home tonite.
Flash (Sigma EF-500 DG) comes with the deffuser and all the accessories. I did not get the update from Sigma.
