Light seals in Europe

Hello, It's been a long time since I last changed the seals for a film camera, but I have to do it for my 1963 SV. Looking around on ebay, things seem to have changed a bit. I can't seem to find kits specifically cut for particular cameras any longer, just sheets of foam that (I suppose) I have to cut myself.
So how do you guys make do? Is Jon Goodman still around? Are there any other guys in Europe that sell kits for Pentax?

Hi, quick question here.
I recently upgraded my old K-x to a new(er) K-30 and was wondering whether I can reuse the Canon EC-A focusing screen from focusingscreen.com that I had in the K-x.

Hi, is there any tool currently that can enable me to automatically set up my lights and make them follow my subject? I'm looking for something like a robotic photography assistant, the terrestrial version of these drones.

Focal length just means magnification (how large the image is on the sensor). On a full-frame camera, you'll see more of that image than on an APS-C (the corners are the place where you'll actually see more), making the field of view effectively wider, but at same magnification.
An APS-C-only lens of 15mm focal length, like the DA15, has the magnification of any 15mm lens, but its image circle only covers the APS-C sensor. On a full-frame body, it would look like an incomplete 15mm image (you would see the edges of the image circle, and black past them).
On APS-C, you wouldn't notice any difference between a full-frame-capable lens and an APS-C capable one, same as on a FF sensor, you wouldn't notice the difference between a FF lens and a medium format one.

Actually that looks and sounds a lot like dust on the sensor to me.

As the title says, I won a broken Pentax K-x on ebay.co.uk for GBP 0.99, then the seller said they wouldn't send it outside UK.
Fine then, maybe I can pass on the luck to somebody else in need.

Unfortunately it's not possible to mate an SLR and a rangefinder lens, because of the different flange distances involved. Your best bet adapting them on digital (no idea if it's worth it, though) is to get a mirrorless camera.

Well, last week I bought my third copy of Takumar 50/1.4 (this is the SMC, rubber grip version). It was sold "for parts or repair", with a speck of dust inside and loose distance ring. Fixed within 30 minutes, paid about $60 total for it.
Here's one of the first pictures that came out of it.

Pentax K-x light meter issue

Hi, my K-x's (yes, digital) light meter stopped working today properly.
It always indicates overexposure, and sets the shutter speed to 1/6000 (still saying it's overexposed, even at that shutter speed).
It says that, irrespective of lens used (M42 or kit lens), or metering mode (M, Av, Tv, Auto).
I tried resetting it to factory defaults, still does that.
In live view mode, light metering still works fine, though.
What's to be done?

I think it's a pity you did that, because it looks like the top cover is in an unusually good condition, and could have been used for spare parts. Same goes for mirror, focusing screen probably, etc.

Don't EVER try to mount a SMC Takumar on your Zenit. Just google "Takumar Zenit".

Yup, I paid 1.6E for one roll too, because now that's the cheapest price for 36 exposure film in Bucharest, or at least the cheapest I know of. Prior to that, Fuji C200 was also available at that price, but it became more expensive, for reasons I cannot understand.

Exposure metering quirks of a Spotmatic
Posted By kcobain1992

No, you got it wrong. Spotmatics do not underexpose by 2 stops, they just assume you are shooting grey stuff, that's what any meter does. Obviously, snow is white and not grey, so you have to override the reading from the meter, because you KNOW you're shooting snow, and the camera doesn't, and overexpose by 2 steps :)

Exposure metering quirks of a Spotmatic

The meter will tend to bring anything it sees to 18% grey, that's what it does. Of course if you point it at snow, which should be white, it would try to make it grey, thus underexpose it. Looking at the tables over here, your SP500 gives a 2 stop underexposure, which is to be expected.

Also, with negative film, it's always better to overexpose rather than underexpose.

Spotmatics do not use spot metering, just regular center-weighted. Read this.

Those pictures were probably taken on a camera that supports A mode, and can work without aperture-ring-less lenses. Definitely not a K1000 :)

You do know it will take pictures at minimum aperture, do you?
