I disagree that you could have just as easily done this with a point and shoot. I still use mine occasionally (especially the waterproof one around the pool), but you can't beat the quickness and versatility of an SLR, especially with a nice prime attached. This is a great, clear shot - and I suspect, could have been missed with the P&S.

Item for Sale
Pentax AF-540 FGZ P-TTL Flash

Asking Price
$250 OBO

Item Description
I bought this flash over a year ago, and have never learned to use it, and decided I never will learn to do so. I probably fired the flash less than 50 times total. I still have the box, manual, etc. so you can get it pretty much the same as you would if you went into a shop and bought one brand new off the shelf.

I don't have any photos, but can take a few if desired.

For Sale: DA* 16-50

Asking Price
$560

Item Description
I purchased a DA*16-50 fairly spontaneously. This is my second, after having problems with the first. I'll let you judge the IQ on your own - 1650sale Photo Gallery by betsypdx at pbase.com and 100% crops (lots of them) 16-50 crops Photo Gallery by betsypdx at pbase.com taken when I was testing this lens when I got it in April.

I've found that I just like using primes much better than zooms and for the occassions I use zooms, the kit lens and 18-250 provide good enough images for what I need.

I'll try to get a picture of the lens itself up tonight. Here are a couple taken with the lens.

You could stay in Portland too and see some of my favorites - the Chinese and Japanese Gardens, Waterfront Park and Eastbank Esplanade along the Willamette, the aerial tram, the St. Johns Bridge.

Nice set of shots Frank - I love how you've included all 36 (and impressed by your "keeper" rate).

PS I've looked at the back of a film camera too - it's hard not to do.

screw mount lenses

I don't use focus confirm so can't help you there, but do have several old screwmount lenses and use them with no problems in AV mode (though I do have to check exposure regularly). I have two non-Pentax adapters (with the little metal lever piece removed) which remain mounted on the lenses I'm carrying around on any given day so I can switch back and forth between the K-mounts and screwmounts. I highly recommend them.

I've been using my DS (over 50K shots in the past 2.5 years) for the past couple weeks waiting for the return of my K10D. It's still going strong.

I have both old K and A lenses as well as Takumars and most recently a lensbaby that I use with it. The older K mount lenses are my least favorite, since I can't just put in Av and shoot away but have to hit the green button to meter.

Likes - the sensor is better imo at higher ISOs than the K10; it's lighter weight; 6 MP is enough for me

Dislikes - I like the dual scroll wheels on the K10 and Raw+ and miss those on the DS

Good luck.

#3 is my favorite of the bunch as well. Great detail.

I've also done each f-stop along the way 2.8-32 and found it very informative.
