My 6 year old K20D does the same thing. I feel like I'm going to break the latch off. It will always open after a little bit of jiggling it.

My son & I recently returned from 15 days hiking/camping/picture taking in Utah & AZ. Visited 5 National parks & 6 state parks, hiked 148 miles (per his fit bit) and took almost 1,800 pics (I'm sure at least 50-60% will be deleted). I shoot a K20D and the only other Pentax I saw on the entire trip was my son's K30. :):) We did see a gazillion selfies taken (hate those stupid selfie sticks). Lot of Asians and Europeans on the strip.

How is Harvey affecting you & yours? Hope everything is good. So sad for all the people in Houston. My wife and I lived through Camille, but nothing close water wise to Harvey.

We got nothing but clouds in northern VA. My wife is in central WA and she said it was awesome. The only photography she does is with her iPhone, and she was told it was best not to shoot with it. I'll catch the next one 28 April, 2024 at the grand old age of 82!

Step Down Ring Size.

I have a question regarding step up/down rings. I have never used a CPL and I was given a Hoya NXT 77mm CPL as a gift. In looking at my lenses, I have a Tamron 28-75mm (067mm), and a Tamron 70-300mm (062mm). As the CPL is 77mm, I will need a 77mm-67mm step down ring to fit the 28-75mm, and a 77mm-62mm step down ring to fit the 70-300mm - I think. In looking at different sources I don't see a 77mm - 62mm step down ring anywhere. Does anyone know if there is such a ring? I would appreciate any info you guys & ladies can provide. Thanks.

Another reason to dislike FB. I only use it via my camera club. We have a "closed" version as that is the only way we can distribute our photos among club members. If you aren't in the club, you can't see any pics, and we have a pretty good size club - 73 members. If not for pic sharing, I wouldn't set foot in FB.

A Hoya 77mm CIR-PL. I've been led to believe that I need one. I've never owned one and never used one. My son and I are heading to Utah 9-23 September to cover all 5 NPS (we hope). Now all I have to do is learn how it actually works, and to see if we actually need it. We both shoot Pentax. I shoot K20D and he shoots K-50.

Outstanding picture! Just curious, but did you do any light painting to this one? I'm asking as I have recently been reading a lot about nightscapes (going to Utah next month) and light painting was shown quite a bit. I'm a fan of all your recent southwest postings.

Thanks for your quick reply, and the exif data. I'm always interested in what & how people shoot. I'm using a 7 year old K20D and I really like it. Think I'm moving to K-3 II by year end. Can't wait to visit Utah.

Great pic! Just logged into the forum and saw your iconic pic. My son and I are heading to Utah in September for 2-3 weeks to visit all 5 parks (we hope), and I'm renting the Sigma 10-20 from Camera Lens Rental. Been thinking of purchasing the Sigma. Hope I get a shot like yours. Do you remember your settings by any chance, and assuming you used a tripod. Do you think it is too wide? Thanks in advance.

Looking good! Only thing I see wrong is the Red Sox flag.😏 (Lifelong Bronx Bomber fan). I can relate to low mileage on your Avalon. My wife and I bought a 2015 Subaru Outback in April 2015 and just cracked the 8K mark last week.

I have some of the same questions if I may tag on a bit. I've been shooting a K20D for about 6 years and currently using a Transcend SDHC 16GB, at "10" speed, I think. I plan to purchase a couple of additional cards as I will soon be spending a couple of weeks visiting the national parks in Utah. I looked in my manual, but I can't determine the capacity of captured pics. Would 32GB, or possibly 64GB work? Any info would be appreciated.
