I think everyone knows where this is. While not specifically on my bucket list, I was delighted when a on the spot decision took us on an excursion past Erasmusbrug Bridge in Rotterdam. The weather being particularly overcast this image really lent itself this treatment.

Sundown on Little Murray River Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia.

Enjoying a glass of wine at brother-in-laws house when this light hit the river.. Grabbed the camera and raced tot he river.. The river does this often in the early evening. The ripples die down and a nirror like surface develops ten minutes either way and the light is gone. Magic.

The disadvantages listed here pretty much sum it up for me. In particular the EVF lag.I am quite amused by the tone of this article which to my cynical eye treats the limitations of DSLR as deal killers but treats those of the mirror-less as minor inconveniences that will be solved some day.Come back to me when they are solved.

Why do municipal authorities permit canoeists to hang obstacles in front of iconic buildings. Much cloning required to remove them. ARGH.

Fine in the right place, especially to illustrate a point. It is a thing I do rarely I have attached a recent example, for which the reasoning is obvious to me at least.

Fake bokeh

I have not tried it often and I do agree that masking can lead to very fake looking effects. What can work to some extent is applying the blur via a radial filter in Lightroom. With sufficient feathering the transition from sharp to blur can be managed to a certain extent and produce more natural looking results.

I have only really tried long exposures at night in order to remove people. It worked quite well at this. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people, who on seeing the camera on tripod, stopped to ask if they could walk through the scene.

Looking at it again, I think this really think a Lightroom graduated filter or two would work wonders a the sky and water could use different amounts of saturation and luminosity. One from the top down and one from the bottom up A great photo with tons of scope for PP.

Cheers

Almost perfect in my humble opinion. I like the varied lighting. Of course you could play around in Lightroom enhancing what is there. Again I can't help myself but this is what my default processing would produce.

Nice. If you are into processing I would suggest a slight boost to contrast and saturation. Not a lot, just the slightest touch will make it pop.

I like this one a lot. It is ok as it is but sometimes I just can't help myself and I do like to push the boundaries a bit. Slight boost in clarity, contrast saturation and levels. Add a vignette and crop. I don't see a lot of value in the trees on the right. Some folks may see my edits as a bit too much and I accept that. I do stuff like like to define the limits and see what is possible. Usually when I do something like this for my photos I leave it for a day or two, come back and back off my edits somewhat. Already I think I have overcooked it and second one is backed of in contrast and saturation. It is for me a process of trial and error.

The shots you didn't get

My Dad, for as long as I can remember, claimed a shot of a Willy Wagtail (a small black and white bird) perched on the head of a kangaroo. When the slides came back from Kodak, this one was not there. He reckoned, without any evidence, that someone stole his prize winning photo. We all agreed, while secretly believing he simply fouled up somehow.
