When the meter doesn't work many people list the camera as "no meter". I recently got a camera from ebay that was listed as no meter. Someone had removed the meter.

I had the same thing happen with one of my spanner wrenches of that type. And right now the spares are not available. I've had "blaster" or DeoxIT take a week. Patience is a virtue (necessity).

K3,K5 and K7 etc. are all past warranty. It does, if they can tell you worked on it.

Argus and Argus/Cosina are two different Cameras. The just plain Argus is not well made.

To make things more messy, having had both cameras apart, I am pretty sure the Argus felt cheap because it was made by Petri.

I have seen a few 100mm f/4 lenses with separated lens elements in the front group. Historically, when lenses used Canada balsam as cement, you might see variation in permanence with different years. I'm not sure when companies stopped using Canada Balsam.

I think image stabilization would be a great addition. My thought is that it probably would use a ton of power which would require a now battery or a camera that uses two batteries.

Zeiss lens cleaning solution works well. There are some newer coatings that don't like to be cleaned with alcohol.

The Spotmatic F has full aperture metering coupling that may interfere with that lens.

A couple of years ago someone posted shooting pictures with his 645Z at the grand canyon when a storm hit. Everyone else ran for their cars. I love storm pictures. And Pentax.

Mamiya was recognized as a good medium format brand but not so much on 35mm.

The slow speed escapement is below the mirror box. You initially said that 1 and 1/2 second were just slow. Sometimes that can be remedied by firing the slow speeds a lot. The speeds of 1/30 and slower are governed by the slow speed escapement. If exercising the slow speeds doesn't work the remedy requires a lot of disassembly.

I think all non-smartphone photography will be a niche of some sort. We need to happy for what we have to enjoy.

The ends don't come crimped from the factory. Sometimes they have a small glob of contact cement holding them.

Scratches on the lens mount are unlikely to cause a focus problem. The copper thing being bent shouldn't be a problem either as long as you can pretty much straighten it out since it provides spring pressure and not alignment. Put the adapter into recycling ( so you can feel good about it) and get used Pentax adapter on ebay. They sell for 20-40 there.

Extension tubes are the best quality but you lose auto focus. Two element close-up lenses don't get you in as close but you do retain auto focus. In reality, auto focus isn't that useful but it can make things less scary to begin with. Canon and Nikon make/made cemented doublet close up lenses and others do also. It is a thicker heavier close up lens.

Having a faster lens is useful in my opinion. The 105 is the lens to get for that.

In the late 70's I worked for a store that sold Fuji X-mount cameras. I thought I would be the only who recognized it, but then started scrolling down.
