Very few of these around but I must say that for the price you get a fantastic f2.8 standard zoom that is well built and performs admirably. Selling as I'm changing systems. The lens is in excellent condition with normal signs of wear and use.

Will ship with lens case and caps. Original box not available.

Price $240 plus $10 shipping in NA plus paypal fees. Worldwide shipping please inquire.

Buy it with my 10-20 that I have listed and take $50 off the combined price!

Hey P-Bag - just order your lenses from an american dealer like most Canadians do. You will pay slightly higher shipping and will have to pay the GST and your provincial sales tax upon import (no duty). With the Canadian $ close to par you are saving a lot of cash going this route..

If it were me, I would do the following:
Pentax 16-45mm f4 or...Sigma 18-50 f2.8
Pentax da*50-135mm
And an older fast 50...FA 50mm F1.4 or A 50mm f1.4 or 1.7

Tamron 28-75mm or primes?

Having just sold 2 excellent primes in favor of zooms to cover the range (21 and 35 ltd), I can say that while I loved shooting with primes, it was not the most convenient for the type of shooting I typically do. Also - having around $1000 tied up in lenses I barely used was no longer feasible.

Instead, I sold my kit zooms and my limiteds and purchased 2 used zooms: A sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 to cover the ultra wide angle and a sigma 24-60mm f2.8 zoom which is plenty fast (faster than the 21ltd!) and plenty sharp. I come out $400 ahead and still have 2 excellent lenses.

When I have the hankering ot shoot primes, I still have my fast 50 (which is probably still my favorite lens, even after owning the 21 and 35)!

Not saying anything bad about the limiteds - they are simply wonderful - but for me, a quality zoom is more practical at only a small sacrifice in IQ.

Photography versus other hobbies

HA - so true, and lenses don't really depreciate, unlike shoes! That is how I justify my purchases. If I don't like a lens or don't use it enough, I can just turn around and sell it at a small loss, no more than what it would have cost me to rent said lens for a week or two, especially, if you buy good glass or are buying used to begin with.

My other "hobby" is cycling. I have three bikes, a roady, mountain bike, and commuter. Yah, good bikes are pricey, but I only replace a bike every 4-5 years and, really, its my way of staying fit so I don't buy a gym membership, etc...

My fiance doesn't really say too much about what I buy - she's actually extremely cool about my personal purchases so I will consider myself lucky!!

Third parties aren't gonna rush to market for Pentax as they are so small. Might as well get the Canikon versions on the shelves first and then start to manufacture a K mount...I don't really see the big deal between 250 and 270 anyhow..

Further, there are plenty of offereings in the 55-300/70-300 for Pentax so whats the big deal?

Pentax itself has a pretty solid lineup of lenses in the DA/DA* line now so not sure what they would introduce that would replace any of the current lenses, other than small improvements here and there...especially in that FL you were talking about - from all accounts, the DA 55-300 is a superb lens at that price point..

Maybe Pentax should just get some B-level celebrity to hawk their product ala Canikon with their Andre Agassi and Ashton Kucher ad campaigns. Seems to have worked for them.

Beautiful model and in my opinion a pretty good shot. Overall, i think the pose is good, but would have been a bit better if she was looking into the camera. Face is also seems to be out of focus (or softer than the rest of her) which takes away from it a bit.

Here's one from the DA35. It produces some fantastic bokeh, but I have a soft spot for my A50 1.7. For the $75 i spent on it, it truly is magnificent.

So - I've spent this rainy afternoon drooling over this thread and serious LBA sunk in. Perused through the PF marketplace and then hopped over to ebay where I found a mint copy for $399!!

Excellent photos everybody - Truly inspiring, and apparently helping to fuel the economy. haha. Look forward to contributing soon!
