RULES:

Contest ends at Midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST) on May 16th, 2019

Any Forum Member may invent and post a caption for the photo, posting the caption as a reply to the thread.

All readers of the thread, including those posting captions are encouraged to vote for any and all of the captions they appreciate by "Liking" them using the Forum's LIKE feature ('thumbs up" turns green when clicked). At the end of the contest period, the host will count the votes and report who won. In the case of a tie, the Host will break the tie, but will not otherwise or submit a caption or vote.

The winner will be notified ASAP by the current host by PM and post the winner in the thread. The new Host should post a link to the new contest thread at the end of the Caption Contest round just completed.

Submissions should be via text (no video or audio files)--any caption, limerick, motivational poem or verse or prose is permitted--whatever inspires you to describe the photo or catch attention. Simply submit by replying to the thread. Contestants may submit more than one entry but it must be in a separate post.

IMPORTANT:

Even if you do not submit an entry, please "like" any postings you feel deserve it as this is how the winner is chosen. If you DO SUBMIT an entry, please also fins an entry that you like among your competitors efforts and "like" at least one of them as well. Enter often, vote more often, and most importantly,HAVE FUN !!! Remember, you can 'vote' for more than one entry if you choose to do so.

If the image is too big for you, edit your account "Settings and Options" for a smaller display size.

I have this posted in weekly challenge for power, let's see what you can all do for a funny caption!

Probably the best analogy to photography here is speakers and monitors. The digital data from your camera/memory card WILL be influenced greatly by the monitor you use, just as the sound will be influence by the speaker. The cable to the monitor, much less so, but I can see a cable making a difference with an analog speaker (are there digital speakers yet???). Resistance, capacitance and rejection of electrical noise (shielding) can influence the sound. How much? The sound is in the ear of the listener!

I second Faststone Image viewer also. It is easy to use, low cost (please donate to them so they can continue development) and has some basic editing tools if you need to correct images a bit.

I am thinking you are below the minimum focusing distance. The blur is not in one direction, as movement may indicate, the lines are "thicker". knowing the shutter speed, etc., would be helpful.

Longer Telephoto Lens for the K-1

There's the old adage, "you must suffer for your art". Luckily, over the counter pain killers can help with this!

A true back pack style bag would be a great idea when moving from one location to the next, but if you do not want to spook the critters, you may realize that a 200mm lens does not get you close enough. Either the 400mm, the 150-450 or if you have good credit and can afford the mortgage, a nice 600mm f5.6 will get you in tight!

I occasionally photograph birds out my back window (10 yards max) with a 200-500mm vintage tamron, f5.6. At 500mm it is still not close enough to get the full frame (on my K-1) filled. I add a 1.5 teleconverter to get there. This makes the lens a 300-750 f8! To keep this monster steady, I use it on a tripod with a Manfrotto gimbal mount. This may be too heavy for general walk around field work, so a monopod might be a better choice.
As for the weight you carry, keep carrying it and your body gets used to it. Mainly because you are building up the muscles you are using! You may want to hit the gym if you shoot like this regularly!

Enjoy!

Maybe its my take on this, but landscapes in portrait really seem to exhibit image depth more than the traditional landscape orientation.

One thing you do not mention that would help in the discussion, what are the details of the "few situations"? Depending on what you are trying to do or accomplish, it is important to give us some more details.
