So are you saying "end of discussion" the camera failed, was fixed and we don't care that it is going to happen again? Or are we looking for Ricoh/Pentax to step to the plate and rectify the problem instead of letting it continue into the next generations of DSLR?

Cheers

Sorry Steve but I have to refer back to my original post on another thread and refer you back to your "original comment to me" K70 aperture block? - Page 3 - PentaxForums.com

Your Quote directing me back to this thread.
"There is a thread on this site dedicated to the matter including how to confirm that your camera has an aperture control problem. You are welcome to participate posting as is appropriate there, particularly in regards to whether you are able to to confirm an aperture control problem as well as any repair center diagnoses and final outcomes. Example photos are not needed, since they are a symptom that contains few, if any clues.*" https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/193-pentax-k-70/377096-k-70-underexposed-photo-reports.html

I am not trying to muddy the waters on this thread but perhaps it will be the solution for many K-70 owners and a resolve from Pentax so they don't duplicate the problem in the future.
Here are the macro pictures of the "solenoid" that came from my K-70 sent back to me from "SunCamera Service in Canada the authorized Pentax repair facility. Unfortunately not under warranty,.

The full control block image is here:

I do not see how these posts are "off topic" as it is documentation of "K-70 Diaphragm Control Failure" and the resolve to that failure, suggesting to open a new thread while this thread is already under "Pentax K-70, K-70 UnderexposedPhoto Reports" seems counter productive if we are looking for solutions.

I have to agree with Photogem.

Checked with multi-meter, solenoid leads are PINK & PURPLE plastic housing for the coil is GREEN the resistance I measured across the leads is 30.1 ohms. I am still unsure as to what this is going to confirm other than the fact the solenoid has continuity or is open.

I have taken a few images since the repair and so far I have not had a dark image, fingers crossed that it does not fail again around 8000 images, the first signs of failure were about the 4500 shutter count!

The part in the photo is stamped 14 July 2017 and 10 Aug 2017. On another thread you posted date of manufacture from EXIF as 14 Aug 2017. You purchased the camera 27 Sept 2017.

It all looks good to me. There is no inconsistency in the dates.

Yes Steve I updated the message with "My manufactured date" sorry I wasn't clear on that.

To make a long story short: I recently had my K-70 serviced for "Diaphragm Control Block Failure" I had them send me back the old part and wanted to check the manufacture date of the camera against the "date stamps" on the part.

I was directed here from a Google search on "Pentax camera manufacture date" and thought the info here could use an update.

By following the link provided on this site you can check your shutter count AND MANUFACTURE DATE TOGETHER!

Looks like a thorough explanation but I too do not read German so the translator had to do and becoming a member of a German Forum to follow the links seemed a little much.
I do have a multi-meter what were you looking to do ?

I am still interested in finding out the manufacture date of my camera because if the part in the picture for the solenoid they sent back to me is before (2017.7.14) then the part they sent is not from my camera.

Found the manufacture date re EXIF data and this Forum Check Camera Shutter Count and Manufacture Date

I am new to the DSLR market, less than 3 years. In 2017 after 50 years out of photography I decided to jump back in as my "Retirement Hobby" as for my past experience with Pentax and still owning my first SP1000 I did the research about using my "old glass, m42 screw mount" and decided to go with the manufacturer I knew and a product I trust.

Well I will cut to the chase, I love my 2 year young K-70 although I have just sent it in for repair, possible aperture block but not determined, this will not put me off the brand but I read BigMacks post and had to comment, here is a quote from CS Reports:

"Take a look at our reliability findings. For point-and-shoot cameras, the median estimated failure rate by the third year of ownership was only 5 percent. And for interchangeable-lens cameras (SLRs and mirrorless models), that rate was just 4 percent.

My background has a lot of Computer Maintenance hands on experience and here is a saying "if electronics is going to fail it will usually do so in the first year" or it could run for years with no failure. Cameras like anything else need their customer support and in most cases will bend over backwards to keep their base, like a politician without supporters they will FAIL, if we SLAM the product every time a glitch happens....guess what...forgone conclusion...or self prophecy.

Here is a saying from the 60's....Be True to Your School!

RANT DONE!

I agree, I can't help thinking it is a glitch in the electronics.
