Transferring Camera Photos to Your Cellphone

Card reader works for me. I use a Lexar usb b one with a usb b to usb c converter, but I'm sure there must be usb c ones out there. Flucard, etc will only allow transfer of JPEGs afaik.

Maybe you can do a transfer via a suitable cable to save having to remove the card from the camera? It's how I upload my files to my pc.

WG-1 battery won’t hold its charge

From what you say something in the camera is causing a power drain even when it's off, so maybe a reset of the camera?

If yours is the GPS version, the GPS in this camera is a battery killer, so maybe switch it off until actually needed?

Also, might be worth testing the new batteries by fully charging them both, then put one in the body and leave the other out. If the one that's out holds it's charge vs the one in the body, repeat the exercise swapping the batteries. If the battery in the body always discharges you'll have at least proven the two new batteries are ok and the fault is in the body. There's always a chance that the new batteries are faulty.

You might wish to consider an older 'flagship' camera, like the K5, K5Ii, or even the K3.

I understand price is a consideration, but none of these models have been plagued by the aperture solenoid problem and produce great results.

Maybe just get a waterproof camera/lens cover like this one from Optech - Rainsleeve - Camera cover for rain and snow | OP/TECH USA - which will give you freedom to choose whichever lens you want.

Unfortunately with the USD Vs other currencies exchange rates this is rather expensive compared to the other eBooks in the series. Pity!

Suggest you use two cards, especially if the trip is special. The K3III accepts two cards.

Your previous post states the lens was changed, so as the problem continues this points to the camera body. Please confirm you've checked and cleaned the internal power-zoom contacts. You'll see them at the 5 o'clock position just inside the lens opening.

Also, although unlikely, try a different battery, just in case it doesn't have the power to drive the lens.

OP. Can you confirm you've checked and cleaned the power-zoom contacts? If you're not sure where they are, look into the camera from the front with no lens on and you'll see them just inside at the 5 o'clock position.

Pentax K-x DSLR Mirror Problem

Usual elimination process starts with battery change and camera reset. I see you've tried changing batteries so next step is factory reset just in case you've inadvertently changed a setting or the camera is suffering a software glitch.

How long did you leave the camera without battery? Worth leaving it without a battery for a day I'd say.

Does the mirror stay up with battery out? If so, as suggested, could be a mechanical failure.

If it doesn't stay up with battery out, sounds like some sort of long exposure timer is running, although I'd have thought it would stop running once the battery's out.

GR III vs DSLR for travel

Faced with a similar problem some years ago when preparing for a trip to New Zealand I bought a high end bridge camera with sensible zoom range.

No regrets other than its sensor was smaller than that in my dslr and it noticed in overall IQ, but it left me to enjoy the sights and bring back the memories.

Suggestions for controlling dust in studio?

I doubt without vast expense you'll ever eradicate dust, so how about a fan blowing across the mirror surface? Depends on your subject of course as to whether this would introduce movement that would show in the shots.
