Guess I'll find out for myself. Just boxed up my MX which has pinhole light leaks and requested a CLA also. Mail it in the morning.

The spring waterfowl migration has started. Unfortunately, due to our subfreezing late winter the lakes they use are still frozen. One small spot of open water at the Coldstream Dam in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania attracted a small group of Tundra Swans and Redheaded Ducks, which resemble Canvasbacks except for different eye/bill coloring. First time I'd seen them. They were a good ways from the camera, so judicious cropping was employed.

Great shot! I've been baking my own bread for 30 years, plus worked in a bakery for a year. It was the nicest smelling job I ever had!

Interesting article on EV

I just ordered an old film camera that uses displays EV(exposure values) in the viewfinder rather than aperture/shutter speed. My Gossen Pilot Light Meter also shows EV. Found an interesting article while researching the camera by Fred Carter on the subject. It also contains a lot of info that to a neophyte at film shooting I found interesting and useful. Thought I'd share just in case others have similar cameras/light meters.Ultimate Exposure Computer

Our County Seat is Bellefonte, PA. It's an old town with a lot of great, old architecture. The pics are the Bandstand in Tallyrand Park and the old Bellefonte train station. Lovely shots of an elegant bird. I've plenty of shots of them stationary and feeding; but none such as these. I'll have to give it a try.

Although European Starlings hang around the area all winter in huge flocks putting on precision split second maneuvers known as Murmuration, they rarely approach my feeders until nesting begins. This is the first I've seen this year. He appears to be telling me that the natural processes are marching on, and contrary to the continuing freezing temps, spring is on the way. The shutter speed BTW is 1/1600.

When stuck between the camera and my Tamron 70-300mm. I'd never used one before but it was with a camera(ME Super) I'd won on shopgoodwill.com; an Albinar-ADG Auto2X P/K. I never knew Rupert, I joined the forum after he had passed, but I'm sure he'd enjoy a pic of one of Otis's brothers. Had to use the camera in manual, of course.

That's good to hear. I just received an ME Super, which works well but I figured to use Garry's again since he lists it. Sent him a Minolta X-370 with blown capacitors and he repaired that and did a complete CLA. Had it back in two weeks. There's a post here that says he worked on an MX, even though it's not on his list. I may have to shoot him an e-mail on that.

The recent sub-zero temps, plus the snow and ice have been hard on everything and everybody around here. I was surprised then when I saw this little guy out and about while the temp was in the teens; they usually don't come out of their burrows until it gets a bit warmer. I had a lot of seed spread out, and he was enjoying a decent meal. Shot through my kitchen window.

Here in Central Pennsylvania any sort of flower that can bloom in the middle of winter is appreciated. This particular Japanese/Chinese hybrid Witch Hazel fills the bill for me. It's been blooming for a week now in temps that are in the teens and low 20's (F). Beats my neighbors' Forsythia by a mile.

Landscape Log Houses

Nestled in the midst of the Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains is a little 256 acre State Park with a little jewel of a 22 acre lake on it caused by damming a creek called Laurel Run; where folks around here come for some fishing, peace and quiet. The first pic is of the Ranger HQ log house on the edge of the spillway.

This area of Pennsylvania is dotted with numerous log houses that date back to the early 1800's at least. I've a buddy that lives in a two story one (not shown here) that was built in 1842. The one in the pic is located in the little farming community of Gatesburg, PA. I drive by it all the time, but today the combination of the lighting and the snow told me I should take a pic.....so I did.
