Hi Adam,
Thank you for your generous offer! I hope the winner makes very good use of this quite capable camera. I really appreciate the Pentax lineup and have been shooting same for 35 years now starting with a venerable K1000. I would love to have this model in my lineup because it is compact and lightweight. Not to mention bright red! Love it 😎
Thanks again,
Walter

READ ME! Pentax Tips from the Community (55-300mm Giveaway)

Just a quick tip I've picked up along the way:
Many of us own lenses that were designed for 35mm film cameras. This is a great reason to shoot Pentax because lenses made back in the 1970's will still work on our newer DSLRs. A rule of thumb I use for these "legacy" lenses is the format ratio of about 1.5:1. In other words, an older lens of 100mm will produce an image equivalent to a 150mm on a DSLR. If designed for a DSLR, the lens focal length is as stated on the barrel. This can help one put together a nice selection of lenses without duplicating capability. Moon shot with legacy 35-200mm zoom handheld.

Hi,
Sounds like it was a good choice for a travel camera.
Did it have any short comings or would you buy it again for travel?
I noticed you said you "settled for the Panasonic ZS50".
Would that be compared to another travel camera? Or your DSLR?
Thank you,
Walter

Panasonic Lumix DSLR

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone uses the Panasonic Lumix DSLRs ? Though not as well established as other brands, they do use Leica lens technology. I shoot Pentax and have a full complement of PK lenses from 35mm days through my D10 18-55mm. I would like to know if there is an adapter available for PK to Panasonic Lumix DSLR also.
Merry Christmas! <[ ; > )>

Architecture Cathedral Notre Dame in Spring on the Seine

This photo was taken April 13, 2014 while walking through Paris on a chilly spring day.
The Cathedral St. Michel of Notre Dame is on an island in the Seine River.

A blustery day, cloudy and somewhat windy adds character to the photo
and the weathered architecture of the southern exposure pictured in it.

The cathedral's architecture, stained glass and flying buttresses are captured as well
as the surroundings including the seawall rising up to the trees near the cathedral itself.

Vivitar 3.5 35-200 P/K A adapter for K-r

Worked great for me! Thanks - I thought I was going to have to sell the lens. I didn't want to because it is so capable with the focal range and f3.0 speed. Removing the ring kept me from doing the unthinkable. The only thing I noticed is that the zoom won't go past about 80mm to get to 35mm once off the camera (for storage in the case) unless you move the aperature lever very slightly. On camera it works fine.
Thanks again!

Buying a used K20D

I am interested in the same K20D and have seen many posts where the sellers have well over 50K actuations without issue. Some have twice that and are still going strong. Sounds like a very durable camera that is well built. I hope to get one soon myself.

Hello to all!

Hi,

I just joined the forum after having my interest in photography rekindled recently.
My previous experience was with a K-1000, M and an ME Super. Enjoyed them all.
Of course when the digital era came, I set them aside. After discovering the 7 lenses and
other accessories may work with a Pentax DSLR body, I thought I would get back into it

Can anyone recommend a used camera model for someone on a budget who is experienced with
photography but not digital?
I want 10+ MP, good low light performance and fairly low noise up to 800 ISO.
From the brief research I've done so far, the K20D looks like a good starting point. Any thoughts?
