Strong, strong liquor called awamori. It is indigenous to this island, Okinawa.
Inside the cave you can almost taste it in the air.

Thanks. I thought about doing a tight crop but decided against it due to the foreground. I think it adds to the shot.

Thank you!

Thanks. I will always shoot cheap film. If I can find it for less then a buck a roll, I'm game. But these shots are actually different films. Konica Chrome Centuria 200, Fujicolor 100 & Neopan 400.

I can tell. What pro lab you use?
Here in Japan, I send mine to NCPS in Cali. It cost about the same compared to Japanese shops and the yen rate.

Great hyper/zone focusing :D

Yea. The LX would rule the world if it had an AE Lock button for tricky lighting.

Off-topic from above...
Slide shooters! How do you handle tricky lighting with your film cameras that don't have an AE Lock? Shutter speed changing or compensation? With slide not having great latitude like color negative, I tend to shoot it a lot slower.

I believe that is his Nikon 50/1.4 & Nikon F. He could fall, camera land in the road, car hit it, then a boy trip over it and it would still be fine.
Plus, when you have insurance and experience, you know when and when not to have a cap on.

Requiem - The Camera of Taizo Ichinose

My LX with Cosina 55/1.2 was on top of my car when I drove off. Drove to work without a care in the world. Wife watched me leave, picked up my camera and put it on my desk at home. I came home, picked up my camera and went shooting. I wouldn't put two and two together until a few months later when my wife said "Don't leave your camera on top of your car and drive off like last time."
WHAT?!

Nice B&W shot. I haven't shot B&W in awhile.
Experiment? A bit muddy & grainy? No.
This is the worst film ever. I will NEVER use it again and there is nothing GOOD about it. haha.
Not an experiment, a warning to others. lol.

Here is some way cheaper, and 10000x better film.

Pentax LX + DNP Centuria 100 + cz 28/2 or nokton 58/1.4

Pentax LX + Carl Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2 + Kodak Ektachrome P1600 ( I am never using this film again )

I shot these at the native film speed of 400 but the shop saw 1600 and processed it as such. Maybe that is why it is so grainy. But the P means that it is meant to be pushed to that ISO. The REAL speed of the film is 400 but is DX coded for 1600 but shops don't know the difference. I thought specific instructions to NCPS would be enough, but they STILL processed it at 1600. Oh well. I'll upload more later.

Frank, amazing shots. I almost picked this lens up, but passed at the last minute. The Tamron SP 17 is my choice wide on the LX.

FA doesn't Auto Focus. Forgot to add that.

Edit:
Oh wait, it does. I thought AF was through contacts like modern cameras, but it is thru screw from the body. So yea, the screw still spins the AF on this lens. Silly me.

Item Description
Pentax SMC 50mm f/1.2 without aperture blade
$250
*If you buy this together with the 50/1.2, I'll throw in a cheap K to EOS adapter to use with EOS cameras. This makes the lenses worthwhile on real full frame cameras like the 5D.
This lens is great. I used it for videos on my 5D Mark II. I have chopped the lever off before and put it back together on these lenses, but I bought this one with the lever chopped so I can't reverse it. You can use it on K mount bodies but you have to compensate for the overexposure since there isn't an aperture follower (you can hack one in though). If you use it on pentax's dSLR, you can probably compensate easier. The over exposure gets bigger as you stop down more. Wide open, it is perfect.
Also, this lens has quite a bit of dust inside. Again, if you shoot wide open, you won't notice it, but it is there.

Same deal as with the 50/1.2. I removed the aperture blade, then lost it. Great on an EOS body, but with a k body, you'll have to compensate or get over exposed shots AS you stop down. Wide open, it is perfect.

Pentax-M 40mm f/2.8
$125
Perfect little pancake. Everything works and the glass is excellent. Nothing wrong with this little guy whatsoever.

Tamron Adaptall 28mm f/2.5 with P/KA adapter
$70
This lens has some fungus inside. Any camera shop should be able to clean it for you. But the real gem is the P/KA adapter it comes with. Both lens and adapter work flawlessly.

*If you buy all, $400 is all I ask for.

Thanks. That shot was one of 3 that I tried. The other two didn't fair out so well. Japan is a land of contrast. lol. It is fun being here.
