I see the play button For viewing recorded images to the right of the view finder. I don’t see a button with the letters LV.

Lens Spanners -- Using the right tool for the job

Thanks for the article! I long puzzled over which spanner to buy, and ended up buying a cheap twin bar. But I find I often make custom spanners for small lenses from a washer or small coin. All it takes is a couple of metal files and a small vise. The custom spanner can be made to precisely fit the slot while clearing the lens and camera/lens mount. The ability to make custom tools such as spanners and screwdrivers that fit the wide, but thin slots on the screws used in cameras is very useful for working on camera equipment.

Not a Spotmatic expert, but doesn't Auto use the meter? Doesn't the meter need the battery?

What bellows and slide copier to get?

The slide copier I have (labeled "Asahi Pentax Slide Copier" and came with an Auto Bellows A) takes a round rod. The lack of a flat on the bottom makes it tweeky to initially align, but once it's setup I just leave it in place for future use. The only tools required are a tiny flat blade screwdriver, a wide thin flat blade screwdriver I made from a cheap 1/4" screwdriver using a file, and the #2 tap and drill. I used a drill press, but a vise and hand power drill probably would work. I use the SMC 100mm F4 Macro lens because I have it. Pentax says to use a 50mm lens, but not the f/1.4 versions.

It's not a difficult conversion if you have some of the needed items to begin with and enjoy doing such things. Otherwise I would just buy the best dedicated film scanner I could afford.

Shown along side the stock copier bar. The bellows on the copier is too short to reach the lens with the longer bar, I made a cardboard tube just the right length to bridge the gap from the lens to the slide holder. The Pentax bellows/copier manual calls for a 50mm lens to get a magnification of 1.0 using the slide copier. I use an SMC 100mm F4 Bellows lens which, with the longer bar, provides the 0.66 magnification needed for the K-5.

Our friends eat B&H have an article on digitizing film that might help the OP.

I have the Pentax Auto Bellows A and associated slide copier that I use with a K-5. I replaced the stock bar with a longer 1-inch diameter aluminum bar. Ten-inch long, 1-inch diameter aluminum bars are readily available online. Moving the bracket that attaches the copier to the bellows to a longer bar is not too difficult if you have some experience and enjoy doing such things. It does require drilling and tapping a #2 screw hole in the bar and a short #2 screw to replace the presumably metric original. I use a cardboard tube to extend the bellows.

Note that 32GB cards are SDHC and 64GB cards are SDXC and have a different file system than the 32GB cards.

macOS likes to write a few files to a card when you plug it in. I alway switch on the SD card write protection to prevent the computer from mucking with the card. Don't have a K-1, don't have a 64GB, card so I have no idea if this will help.
