Both very lovely. But for me the first one is more meaningful. I love the larger space (literally), above the human history. But that's just my opinion.

Richard, I used to use Flickr but my account got lost when BT Internet and Yahoo parted ways. The Flickr way works well, but so do other approaches. I now use my Pentax albums as a conduit to forum image sharing.

There are two ways I prepare images for the forum. Using photoshop CS6 and/or Lightroom.

1. Export an image from lightroom at 1280px long edge sized to max 999kb, with export sharpening 'standard'. Import the image to a forum album, copy the BB code from the album into the forum post.

2. In photoshop resize to 1280 long edge and 300pixel/inch. Create a copy image in PS and convert it to a smart object. Add gaussian blur at about level 7, modify the blur to obscity value 9 in the smart object. Smart sharpen at 0.2 pixels radius and level 200. Reduce opacity of sharpening in smart object until sharpening artefacts minimise in 100% view. Flatten the image and export for Web at a max file size of 999kb. Import to album and share as above.

645Z mirror up issue with fotodiox adapter and 67 f4 200mm

Ah well. That would be very helpful. If it happens with a Pentax adapter I have an issue with the Z. If not it is a fotodiox issue. I will PM you my address, and get it back to you as soon as I have tested it.

That is very kind of you. But I am in Scotland. That might be a bit far to be popping things in the post.

645Z mirror up issue with fotodiox adapter and 67 f4 200mm

I have now found it to be the fotodiox/camera relationship that is somehow crippling some camera functionality. I have also found that 12 second delay will NOT work with the adaptor mounted, as well as mirror up.

I raised a customer support query with fotodiox with the mirror up issue saying it does work through Live View but not through Mirror Up and received this response.

Live view is mirror up though, but either case I do not think our adapter was meant for mirror control which in most cases requires lens communication. which with this adapter there is no lens communication.
Thank you

I don't think that this is a particularly useful reply on their part, clearly something unusual is happening with my setup.

I will be returning the adaptor and getting another manufacturers model. Maybe the Pentax one once I have the funds.

645Z mirror up issue with fotodiox adapter and 67 f4 200mm

The Mirror Lock Up works every time with the fotodiox adaptor attached but no lens. Once the lens is mounted on the adaptor it might work once or twice then goes back to ignoring the timer, sounding like a frame is being taken, but not recording any image. It is extremely frustrating.

The camera side of the adaptor has no metal pin contacts whatsoever. It could be that it is a connector in itself in it's entirety. It is connecting a 67lens to a 645Z and it doesn't support 'auto' anything. It is fully manual. There is only one connector pin on the lens that protrudes when the lens is set to auto, and connects to a pin on the adaptor at the lens mount interface. As the adaptor body makes contact with all of the camera contact pins perhaps there is some 'contact' made, but it isn't via a specific connector pin on the adaptor camera side.

I have cleaned all the contacts. There is actually only one between the lens and adaptor and technically none between camera and adaptor. If only the adaptor is on the camera the mirror up functions 100%. But with the lens on it is hit and miss, mostly miss.

Thanks for trying it out. It is a mystery. Actually it does work for 1 in a 100 attempts. I hope someone who knows about these things can determine the cause. Maybe letting me know here or on the other thread I started.

Thanks, just quick shots with f4 and f 5.6 (from memory, as not recorded in exif). It does render lovely OOF areas at lower f stops. But as it is telephoto it helps to have distance between the subject and the backdrop. For some reason I can't get the 645Z and this combo to work with mirror up. Sounds like the the mirror or the lense activates, but no delay for second activation or sonic beeping to indicate two stage mirror up. Also no image recorded when the it 'fires'

645Z mirror up issue with fotodiox adapter and 67 f4 200mm

Upadate. It does work sometimes, but only for a couple of frames then it stops working for hours. This is definitely an problem for landscape shots. Anybody out there who knows how the mirror up is governed in relation to to lens mount variation please let me know.

645Z mirror up issue with fotodiox adapter and 67 f4 200mm

I have come across a strange issue with recently received adapter and 67 lens. I bought a new fotodiox pro 67 to 645 adapter and a near mint Smc pentax 67 f4 200mm lens (late version). Obviously it is now a fully manual operation, that is not an issue for me.

What is a bit more of an issue is that when I set my 645Z to mirror up (with or without delay, or remote) the lens iris activates but there is no two stage camera action nor audible beep as it waits with the mirror up. No photo is recorded whatsoever. This is not the case with native 645 lenses.

Any ideas what might be causing this to happen?

Just received my SMC Pentax 67 f4 200mm late version from japan. I haven't been able to go out and test it much, but took a couple of handheld shots attached to the Z with a fotodiox pro adaptor. I am impressed by the colour accuracy and very little distortion. Next to try it out nearer infinity for landscape......

Thank you, it is a compositional gimme. It was unusually hard to take pics rather than just take the 2 hour sunset in old school.

Thanks for the feedback. To take this a little further, on PF the wooden post pic looks great. I know you need good or great to get that good at 1280px long edge here. But if you wanted to print very large could the 6x7 smc 200mm rise to the challenge?

I just bought a 67 200 late version on eBay in the hope it will give me better results than the A 200. It won't get here for a while. How do you find yours in comparison to the other two?

It is not an bad lens as such, but I don't love the rendering much. A distinct lack of contrast. More due to the coatings than the glass I suspect. I can add it back in on post, but it is not as natural as getting it captured at the start of the process
