What's your favorite anti-virus software

Switch to a Mac and all these problems go away. Seriously. So does all the bloat/spyware/adware and incessant daily "security" updates. And, your hardware will last far longer than the typical Windows machine - plus you can actually use it for its designed purposes, not spend all your time chasing conflicts, registry problems, dll mismatches, viruses, trojans, and tons of leftover crap from partially uninstalled programs that never go away!

The K7 was great. The K-3 is even greater. I never had a K-5, so can't comment on that one.

But, I learned long ago that it's pointless to wait for the next big thing. It will always be there, just out of reach. That holding pattern will stifle your creativity and cause you to lose out on making the most of your time.

I bought a new iPad Mini a couple of days ago, knowing full well that a new model will be announced in two weeks. Should I have waited? Nah, life's too short.

Why are FF images so much more pleasing than APS-C?

Nope. The images you're looking at have all been downsampled to two megapixels or less.

That's the only reasonable answer.

How did this guy process this photo?

I wouldn't go quite that far...

In my opinion, he's crossed over the line from photography to computer-generated artwork. I no longer view this image as a photograph - it's a computer-generated piece of 'art'. Perhaps 'illustration' is a more fitting word. In any case, it's an algorithmic exercise.

That's exactly how - the first several jobs were free. You've got to build up a reputation before you build up the bank account. A portfolio carries little weight without referrals to back it up.

MZ-s hotshoe maximum voltage

You are correct. The MZ-S doesn't like high voltage at the hotshoe any more than dSLRs.

SF1n pop up flash not working

Not only that, but the xenon tube is triggered by very high voltage - poking around in there with your fingers can be lethal.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you could *try* to substitute a xenon flash tube from a discarded flash unit. Most of the tubes are interchangeable electrically, but finding the right shape tube to physically fit can be a challenge.

If you attempt this, be absolutely sure to discharge the high votage capacitor that's hiding nearby!

The full-frame Pentax bodies have been around for many decades and continue to be used today. They're called 35mm SLRs. :)

Memory Card Error

That is generally true, but an SDHC card can be used if you split it into two partitions - the first one no larger than 2GB. Leave the second partition unformatted. After the firmware update, the card can be restored to a single large volume again.

100% in agreement. I would only add that Fuji's reversal films were my favorites for outdoor, non-people shots due to the vibrant greens and blues.

On the one hand, you are telling us to "be quiet" and just let the mods handle it. On the other, you say the mods will act in response to "community disagreement".

You can't have it both ways, so which is it?

You missed the point of the protests entirely. It had nothing to do with the images.

The OP wanted to collect pictures of "beautiful girls", and specifically excluded "children and grannies" (his words) in a very rude and condescending tone.

This kind of request is offensive on several levels. He is implying (almost explicitly) that children and older women are NOT beautiful. His samples were playing into the mass media definition of "beauty", something which has no basis in reality. His motives were clear from the context and certainly had nothing to do with photography.

Having said that, I would defend the OP's right to make such a request - however, I have an equal right to voice my objections to said request. That's what free speech is all about - things have a way of working themselves out when no one is strongarmed into keeping quiet or forced to be politically "correct".

I think you mean the focusing screen, not the viewfinder. The viewfinder in a DSLR refers to the combination of eyepiece, pentaprism (or pentamirror), focusing screen and mirror.

If you want high-end or specialty components, then yes. I'm not aware of any one-stop shop for this kind of thing .

Otherwise, as boriscleto says, it's all commodity stuff.

Dell doesn't make hard drives. It's just a Dell sticker. Like Apple, they source drives from Toshiba, Fujitsu, Seagate, and Western Digital - whoever is cheapest at the time.

My modus operandi is to replace magnetic drives every 2 years, even if they're not acting up. The old drive gets put into an external drive case and used as redundant backup storage. This works well and I have never lost any data since I started doing this 20 years ago.

Dell doesn't "make" computers, they assemble them from stock components made by other companies. Apple designs computers. HP designs computers. Dell puts other people's parts together and slaps Dell logos on them. Dell quality has been all over the map since the day the company was founded. The quality is entirely dependant on who their volume purchasers bought from that year. You could get a really nice one or a horrible one. When my employer bought 200 Dell computers, about half of them had problems right out of the box. I will say that Dell was good about replacing things under warranty, but many of those systems had to have the same parts replaced two or three times because even the replacements were DOA.

I own a K-3 and use nothing BUT older Pentax and 3rd party glass. No focusing issues whatsoever.
