Woke up trying to catch Santa in the act, but just missed him :p
While I was up, used the darkness and complete family silence to my advantage. :)

If it would be styled like this
http://www.petapixel.com/2012/01/03/the-first-full-photo-of-the-fujifilm-x1/
Or anything like the old LX body, it would be a sweet thing to behold, especially with an adapter for FA primes.

Just wanted to thank Sveinvb for putting up his detailed instructions on repairing the lens yourself.
I did it over 2 nights, with golden pin insertion testing the steady hands and patience at 3am.
My DA* 16-50mm is back in action! Will see with time if the AF accuracy remains.

I think the effect you were trying to obtain at 150mm on the 4/3 is to have more bokeh, the soft blurriness of the background. You can certainly do the same with the Pentax 50-200mm. K5 high iso will permit such focal lengths on that lens and still have a reasonable shutter time to avoid subject motion blurring.
That said, I am very happy with the 18-135mm WR as a travel lens. Very fast focusing, silent, very good IQ and a very practical range. But, for your style of photography, the two kit lens as opposed to the one lens solution might be best, if you tend to shoot at the long end more than the wide, 18-55m range. If it is the bokeh you are after and money is not an object, the DA* 50-135mm does the job nicely with available f2.8.

Title says K-5, but the image shows a K-r and description of sensor says 12 MP. So, it appears to be a K-r, not a K-5.

not sure if this will show, but I am curious about the build of the A* 135mm 1.8 and the lens in front of the silver DA 40mm Ltd.

So, if AF is improved for the K-7, we can imagine it would be something that has been in development and will see an even better improvement on a newer body, no?
And with somewhat improved control over video, it would be expected to have better control(frame rate & exposure) on the new body as well?

LiveView AF is much faster, as if using phase rather than contrast detection.
AF on DA* lens seems faster, with less searching.
Seems improved on FA Ltd as well, with less time to lock on AF.
Don't know if it's more accurate though.

just speculating,
but would such a beast be able to shoot video?
would pentax want to implement that? would people want it more or less because of it?
if so, could it do 2k res? perhaps 4k?

To the OP,
the lack of AF should not bother you when shooting video on the K7. It's not like the consumer video cam ease of use, but shooting video with a DSLR has its benefits.
If you did have AF with the DSLR in video, you'd hear the motor whirring in your audiotrack, which at this time, is loud and slow during LiveView in photo mode.
If you have a DA lens, quickshift allows easy focus too without resorting to the AF/MF clutch on the body. Shooting with a prime lens is ideal since you'd benefit from the shallow depth of field, and have the film look that's harder to achieve with a consumer camera. Moving the focus manually is also more film like in viewing experience.
finally, since i personally take more photos than video, having the video mode there is easier than deciding to pull out the video camera, if the moment is spontaneous.

it's a little more hassle, but you might want to sell separate, considering the interest.
If so ;), i'd be interested in the DA 17-70mm.
