Finally got the grand daughter for a little photo shoot. I have 3 Sunpak flashes that I used for this shot. One into a silver umbrella on the left side, one with a silver bounce card on the right and one bounced on white ceiling from the front. This is the first studio type setup I have done. How do you guys think I did? Any idea's for how to posisition the lighting for even better results?

Thanks
Joe

Nevermind. I got my unit and all I had to do was take the screw out and then seperate the case with a knife. It came apart very easily. Now doing the soldering was a little nerve racking but we got it and it works like a charm!!!!!

So I get home from work today and there was a small box for me in the mail. It looks like I got the last one! In a pretty faded box was a brand new sealed TL-8 TELE-FIL KIT F/444D. For 1cent with $6 shipping I would say it was a good deal!!!!!!

i guess I better not use the Vivitar then!

2000 No 54.4, measured by Greg Speth, but
180V+ from Lou McLaughlin, who reports that Vivitar appears to have made completely different strobes with this same model number....
202V from Chuck Roake too

Thanks guys. Once it arrives I will give it a quick test to be sure but it looks like it should be fine. Have you guys noticed any voltage differences when using different types or brands of batteries?

I just picked up one of these flashes for use on a K20d. Do I need to test the voltage before using or should it be fine? If I do need to test it, how do you do it?

thanks

Yes i am shooting JPEGs for the most part. I need to get a good editing program to really be able to shoot a lot of RAW pictures. As far as noise I set it like you suggested on custom menu #18. I am using the vibrant setting in super fine for the Jpegs. I tend to like this look but as I get used to having a DSLR and also start shooting in RAW that might change. Thanks for all your help so far!

I think I am getting the hang of it.! this shot was taken with a 35-80 FA zoom that i just picked up. Iso is at 800 and I think the sharpness is very good now. I think my early issues were part lens and a lot of user error! I will post the whole picture and then a 100% crop. this is a JPEG direct from camera with no processing to it. I also got the sensor cleaned and my little ghost are gone! LOL

I am much happier with these latest shots. I did have the camera in TAv mode for a lot of the first shots I took. I didn't realize that it would just shoot wide open with the older lenses. I now can't wait to get a couple of AF lenses to try. I actually should have a 35-80 FA lens waiting on my doorstep when I get home! I could barely afford to buy the camera, so buying expensive lenses is out of the question!
