I recently upgraded to a K20D from my K100D that I've had since it was introduced. I know the K20D is out of date now, but it was a definite upgrade from the K100D and had the features I wanted. And I love the camera! I don't feel like I'm missing out not having a newer model yet. I took these with it yesterday while out apple picking.

Pentax Shutter Count...up!!!!

I am. Something has to strike me just the right way before I'll pull out my camera and shoot it, and I shoot much less in winter. Plus, it rained about 95% of the year this spring, summer and fall, so I didn't feel much inclination to go out looking for a good shot.

I suppose it's a holdover from my film days where I was very picky on my shots since I wasn't making a lot of money and hated to waste the film on shots I didn't feel strongly about.

Poll: Why did you buy a Pentax DSLR?

I took photography my senior year in high school in 1988 and learned on a K1000, and loved it. So I bought one. Then I picked up an ME Super at a yard sale in '92 for $25 and fell in love with that camera. And I was slowly growing a collection of Pentax lenses to go with them. In 2001 I picked up a ZX-50 (only Pentax I've regretted, although I do like it for just quick point-n-shooting), and when I was finally ready to move to digital, I elected to go with the K100 because of the SR. And I've never been happier with a camera, so much so that my wife is getting one of her own for Christmas. Most of my lenses are manual, and I love that I didn't have to change any of them to use them with the K100.

So my answer is Loyal Follower, Good Options, Price, and my existing lens collection.

First Attempt at a Nighttime Cityscape

Thank you. I haven't printed it yet, but plan on doing it this weekend.

I thought of that when I was framing the shot, but decided that I wanted to get both the clouds and the clear sky with stars in the shot, and that wasn't possible if I cropped out most of the top.

I've wanted to try this type of shot for a long time, and had a good opportunity to do so this weekend. It took a couple tries to get what I felt was the right exposure time. There was some wind, which caused an interesting effect on the water as I was shooting from a small cove that offered a little shelter from the wind. This resulted in the visible difference between the water in the bay and the water in the cove. As a huge fan of B&W, I felt the conversion was a better end result.

Camera: K100D
13 Second Exposure
35mm Focal Length

Taken last summer while laying down on a dock to get the camera closer to water level. I don't shoot many shots I'm proud of, but this is one of them.
