Here's in an interesting after one month X Pro review, see:

Fujifilm X-Pro1 First findings | Creative and business resources for photographers - ProPhotoNut

Or if you are skip to the conclusion person like me:

"How good is the X-Pro1?
I expect the reports that the X-Pro1 is sharper and delivers more detail than a Canon 5D mk3 or a Canon 1DX are a bit far fetched but the X-Pro1 could easily be equal to either of those cameras from what I’ve seen from the jpegs. RAW processing of 16 bit files will tell the whole truth. I used the X-Pro1 for a corporate job at the BBC in my first week of ownership and I shot in the TV and Radio studios with just 300 lux of light using f/2.8 at ISO 1600 and the Fuji outperformed the Canon 5D MK2 at that ISO. So I ditched the Canon and shot with the Fuji for three days. The final pictures will be printed to A1 so it was important for me to capture the maximum detail. Would I shoot a wedding with it? Yes, once there is RAW file support.

Should you buy a Fujifilm X-Pro1?
Well, if you like your current DSLR then the answer is not yet. Wait for at least one more firmware update and Adobe to provide RAW file support. If you love the DSLR way of shooting then stick with it. The Fuji X-Pro1 needs an open mind and a bit of patience to develop a good shooting style. Comparing shooting a DSLR with the Fujifilm X-Pro1 is like comparing Alpine skiing with snowboarding. Both diciplines are spectacular when done well but being an expert of one does not make you an expert of the other. There’s lots for me still to learn about using the Fuji X-Pro1 before I can realise the true potential of this camera.

Please feel free to share your experiences with this camera if like me you are an early adopter."

Florida man mistakes girlfriend for hog, shoots her | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News

"He was very sympathetic that he'd shot his girlfriend," Maj. Clair said. "It was an accident. I think it was just a violation of one of the cardinal rules of hunting which is you never shoot what you don't see."

Of course here in Texas we may actually be worse, we elected George Bush and Rick Perry..........

Ruby is back on her feet and completely unrepentant. As you can see from the scars around her nose in the photos it must have been a pretty good sized rattlesnake. I rescued another dog today. We had a stray male about 12-18 months old wander up to the college. Poor thing was just skin and bones. He was a total sweetheart. I kept in my office all morning until a person I knew at another branch of the college came and picked him up. 3 is my limit on dogs. Great dog though. If my friend hadn't wanted him, I bet I would sitting here with 4 right now...............

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got these batteries off Ebay and have had a lot of luck with them. At $9.99 you can't go wrong.

Amazon.com: Maximal Power DB FUJ NP-95 Replacement Battery for Fuji Digital Camera/Camcorder: Camera & Photo

I also got this third party lens hood. You can use a generic 49mm pinch cap with it and filters:

Amazon.com: Fuji Finepix X100 Filter / Lens Metal Adapter Tube And Lens Hood 49mm: Camera & Photo

It doesn't quite match the sliver of the camera but for $17.99....mine fit perfectly and I've had no issues with it whatsoever.

Great camera. I did get the X Pro, but no way I'd get rid of the X100.

I'm hoping to be able to rescue her at 5 today. They wanted to let her finish an IV and give her another anti-biotic shot. I'm supposed to call at 4 to see if she can be released. Hugo and Stanley really miss her. They have been moping around since Sunday.

Thanks so much Rupert!!!

I just got through transferring her to my vet this AM. He's a great guy and a good country vet. I was in front of his office at 7:45 when the office rooster came into the parking lot and started crowing- not kidding. I had to pick her up at 6:00 AM from the Emergency Vet. He's going to let me know later today how long she needs to be there. It was really surreal this AM. I had to drive 45 minutes to get there and they just handed me this bag that had an IV drip in it. I'm still half asleep. Here's what she looked like at 7 AM. She is still bleeding. I have so much blood on me I look like I got shot.

Great shots everyone. I'd be interested to know how old that microphone is.

I visited Ruby tonight in the doggie ICU. She was knocked out. They had to put her on some kind of breathing apparatus earlier today because of the swelling. She's now stable. The doctor is going to call me in the AM when he gets back on to give me an update on her prognosis. Her head is the size of a small watermelon. Seriously.

She had to get the anti-venom. I stayed up there for an hour with her, but I had the other two dogs with me. I'm waiting to hear from the animal hospital now. They are supposed to call between 5 and 6 CST to give me a prognosis. I'm just worried sick about her.

I don't know what they mean by "in certain situations." I'm not much on tests and chart shots. I have to see the camera perform in a situation I would use it in. I have a friend who has the OM-D on pre-order. If I like it, I will get one eventually. I have some good MFT lenses. I do wish Olympus would make something between the 12 and the 45 besides the current 17mm. I'll probably get it next year. Looks like an incredible camera.

Now have to look at mine. I never check for that kind of stuff. Amazon did tell me I had until May 4 to return for full refund or replacement. I had some issues with their shipping. And......I live in the sticks. The closest camera shop is an 45 minutes to an hour away in Austin. Living in the sticks sounded like a good idea in principle, but in practice I'm not so sure. I had the SAB on my X100. Fuji was a real pleasure to deal with, unlike Nikon or Pentax. They fixed it pronto and overnighted it back to me at no charge. The cameras may not focus fast but there repair service is very speedy!

I dont know. I guess it just depends on the situation. See:

Olympus OM-D labs data impresses | News | TechRadar

"We have conducted our labs test for the Olympus OM-D, which show that it is capable of beating its biggest rivals including the Sony NEX-7 and Fujifilm X-Pro 1 in certain situations."

Having used MFT two two years with the Oly 12 and 45 + Panasonic 20, 24, and 45, I would have to use it to believe it. That said I primarily shoot outdoors. I recommend MFT cameras to people all the time. I still have my MFT lenses. I may buy the OM-D at some point next year. Under the right conditions they are very good.

I would guess this is probably about what you will get (see below it has a comparison with the NEX 7, which I have used with the 24mm). It will be very good up to ISO 800 which is better than current MFT and is pretty good considering the size of the sensor. If you don't mind doing work in the computer it will you could probably make that ISO 1600. To me it looks like a really great camera. I'm not totally enamored with the DSLR look but that's really irrelevant. If it works good it could be a pink box for all I care. I always liked the Olympus cameras better than the Panasonics because the JPEG's were really good. I do think the Panasonic's had the better sensors. Now maybe not.

Ohio girl shot by dad in restaurant still critical

Associated Press – 2 hrs 13 mins ago

CLEVELAND (AP) — A 10-year-old girl who survived a shooting by her father that killed her sister and mother remains in critical condition in a Cleveland hospital.
Kayla Allen was shot in a crowded Cracker Barrel restaurant in suburban Brooklyn on Thursday as her sister celebrated her birthday.
A nursing supervisor at MetroHealth System said Saturday that Kayla's condition remained unchanged.
Police say Kayla's father, Kevin Allen, came into the restaurant and shot to death his wife, Katherina Allen, and other daughter, Kerri Allen, then was killed by police as he fled.

Silver EFX and Alien Skin presets. Nice programs for people like me who really don't like sitting in front of a computer when I'm off work. From yesterday after work. I really like the Film Noir preset. Alien Skin is cheaper but it doesn't have as many options.

The way I figured it I was going to have to buy a new computer to use the D800..... That was just too much for me. Sure you can downscale it but then why buy a full frame? That said it does look like an amazing camera, but it would be completely wasted on me.

Don't worry Rupert. I told they guy (he's in Austin) that the earliest I would decided would be after May 18. I'll probably keep it, but I'm sure not using it so it kind of pains me to know it's just sitting there in the closet. Especially the lenses, some of them were pretty expensive. I did end up cheaping out and going with the 80-200 F2.8 instead of the 70-200 F2.8. But that 35, 24, and 24-70 weren't chicken feed.......................

I'll let you use the D700. That thing is a load and a half. :)

You just have to buy the camera that works for you and stop expecting the companies to make the camera you want. They don't do that. They make the ones they think they can sell. Sometimes that matches what a person wants in a camera some times it doesn't. Fuji clearly is a well run company that has a good idea of who their customers are. You apparently aren't one of them and there is nothing wrong with that. I have no problem with the price tag of the camera or lenses. But that's just me. I wouldn't pay $6000 for an M9 but I would pay $3000. So I just don't get an M9. I currently use a Nikon D700 (admittedly very rarely because it's just too heavy). I had planned on upgrading to their new camera but at 36 MP I just have no interest in it. Oh well. Life goes on. I'm not disappointed though. I just figure Nikon knows what they are doing and I just don't fit in.

I also tried out a NEX 7. Seems like a great camera but they didn't have any lenses I wanted and I have absolutely zero interest in adapting lenses. I think the NEX 5 is actually supposed to be the better camera.

I still maintain that most of these modern digital cameras are good. I use D700, GXR, X100, X Pro, X10, and Sigma DP. I did use MFT for awhile too. I'm probably stopping for the forseeable future with the X Pro, unless Fuji makes a Full Frame X Pro. It just works for me, however it probably doesn't for 99% of the camera buying public though. However, just because something isn't the most popular doesn't make it bad or just because something is very popular doesn't make it the ideal choice for everyone. I'm going to give a month but I've got a buyer for my D700 and Nikon lenses. If after a month I can't find a reason to use it, I'll sell it. It's kind of silly to have a $2000 camera + a bunch of +$1000 lenses just sitting in the closet.
