I prefer to make exposure decisions myself, but I can see how such a firmware update could help those who don't.

Here's a site I find interesting. Most of the Pentax lens tested here show max resolution at f8 or better.

P.S. I see Monochrome has already posted a link to this site.

I'm afraid I'm turning into one of the naysayers.:hmm: I'm trying to keep a positive attitude but I can't take photos with a "road map" and all this B.S. is driving me crazy. I guess I have to avoid Pentax News and Rumors for a while or else, after 25 years with Pentax, I might turn into a Sony user:eek:.

Thanks. The TW200 has been essentially unchanged since its introduction in 1987. Small changes like front disk brake and newer CV carb. I don't live on a farm or ranch I just love cruising back roads and trails and it is perfect for that.

Focus confirmation with mf lens

Catch in focus and focus confirmation are two different functions. Catch in focus does not need to b activated for focus confirmation to work.

Anyway, I'm glad the OP found the solution to his problem.

Ricoh announces an upgrade service for current PENTAX K-1 consumers

I think it is a smart move for Pentax - I'm not so sure it is a smart move for me, I'm happy with my K-1 the way it is but maybe I could be happier. Maybe I will wait and see what the turn around time for the upgrade is. After all, being without my K-1 for an extended time is a cost to me and it might be smarter to put the $550.00 into another K-1 body.

I reckon my decision will depend on the feedback I read here from others who have made the move.

I am a member of a few other forums on subjects ranging form live audio to motorcycles. I would rank this forum about right in middle as far as courtesy and "niceness". Professional forums seem to be less tolerant of "newbe" type questions, but this is a place just to have fun, right? All too often questions are misinterpreted as opinions and some here seem to have a problem with opinions different than their own.

Mac, kudos to you for your patience and tolerance.

Banned from the forum? If true, I would like to know why. He has performed CLA's on three of my old K series lens and I could not be happier with his work and his excellent service. I would not have found him if not for this forum.

Like the OP, I have a K-1 and was considering the K70 as a smaller, light weight , back up. Then the KP was introduced and I was hooked. I agree completely with Mike's assessment of the camera and I think it's great that the price is coming down a bit so that others may be encouraged to give it a try.

Come on, don't throw around troll insults - even after I thanked you for your contribution. How rude! I was just curious about people's opinion on the matter and have made no claims one way or the other - sorry I "sucked you in". You do realize that you are not required to respond to every post, right?

I had a good time with film and it taught me a lot about photography, but I will NEVER go back. My K-1 has spoiled me!

I happen to find these kinds of discussions interesting and apparently some others also do. Just a thought;)

My local UPS store will print tiff files.

I don't know, would this be some kind of digital hybrid? Shot with my LX and Velvia - converted to digital with my K-1 and DFA 50mm macro.

I know there was a huge difference in the quality of prints depending on where you got your processing done - one of the reasons I preferred slides. i worked for a photo dealer and we send our film to Kodalux for processing and small prints.

Thanks Steve for you informed opinions. As for some of the other responses, gee, I wish someone would have told me back in the 90's that "An 11X14 inch print was the best you could hope for from a 35mm format". That would have saved me a lot of money!;) I have a 16 X 20 print from Velvia hanging on my wall and I routinely projected images on a 6 foot screen that looked pretty good. Many of those images where shot with the same lens I now use with my K-1! Anyone remember slide projectors? I wonder how a projected image from a digital photo compares to one from a Kodachrome or Velvia slide. Has anyone made such a comparison?

Of course your comments about the media used are true - I just find the comparisons to be interesting.
