Ideas for the ideal Pentax FF DSLR.

I would eliminate video I know its the "future" but I would rather have better AF and an even faster frame rate than video and I think eliminating video would free up resources and maybe even save some space that could be packed with more still photography features my 2 cents anyway

Left handers are ignored

i am left handed and use my left eye in the view finder and always have with no problems. as far as other controls i have adapted going clear back to the spotmatic. i also learned to shoot a right handed bolt action rifle from my left shoulder using my left eye and at one time got a left handed rifle and literally could not use it. so i have no doubt i could not use a left handed camera any better. i learned a long time ago that the world is right handed and adapt as needed. i even learned how to use a scythe but never could master a sickle.

i hadn't heard of the newer lenses acting up on the K1 other then the scratch problem. have you cleaned the contacts and updated the firmware? the Sigma film era lenses can be very quirky on the K1 i have 3 that worked flawlessly from the MZ-S to the K3 but are mostly useless on the K1 Sigma wasn't any help since as they informed me "they are film era and discontinued"

purchasing from korea

has anyone had any experience with buying lenses from korean vendors on eBay ? a lens i have coveted for a long time is available from a vendor in korea they have good feedback and appear to have been a long time vendor but the amount of money involved makes me a little leery. i know of restaurants that have went to a lot of trouble to make themselves look good on trip advisor so it might not be much of a stretch when a lot more money is involved. any help would be appreciated.

Revisiting the DA* 60-250?
Posted By nitehntr

the 60-250 was the first of the * lenses i bought. i have used it on the K10 through the K1 with fantastic results. i am considering selling my other DA* lenses but not the 60-250 it is too versatile to get rid of. i have seen people wanting a 70-200 f4 which i really don't understand since the 60-250 covers that and takes high quality images and is relatively lightweight for such a zoom range. i did have it altered when i got the K1 and it has performed flawlessly ever since. my advice is to use it.

anyone have any real world experience with the sigma 500mm f4.5 on the K1 ?? i want the longer reach and full frame but i have 3 of the sigma DG screw drive lenses from film days even though they worked on everything from the MZS to the K3 but they are quirky to say the least on the K1 so needless to say i am concerned about getting the sigma versus the 560. thanks fro any help anyone can give

thought i would pass on some kudos to precision they repaired my 70-200 and got it back to me in less than 2 weeks and the shots i have taken so far are right on for exposure. they replaced the aperture control arm per the receipt i got back with it. just thought i would also give them some good marks ince i have complained about them being slow in the past.

DFA 70-200 over exposing

ok i tried it on the K3 and the same thing regardless of aperture. i took the front and rear covers off and worked the lever and can see the aperture opening and closing. going to call pentax today to see if there is a quick fix and if not it is under warranty so i will make arrangements to get it repaired. i think i mentioned that the 24-70 and an older tamron 17-35 worked just fine and since then i tried the 28-105 and it did fine also so its in the lens. cleaned the contacts and it didn't change. i am guessing its an electronic glitch of some kind.

they will cover a rental but deductibles and such will still apply. most credit cards cover that in addition to doubling the manufacturer warranty on purchases. time for me to shut up now probably

also on a totally unrelated subject if you rent a car they will try and sell you insurance that costs almost as much as the daily rental to "cover" your insurance deductible and such.since you pretty well can't rent a car without one most credit cards provide this coverage also again check with your issuing bank.

DFA 150-450 problems

finally received my 150-450 back last week. talk about a goat rope. united electronics went out of business right after my lens was shipped to precision and while it had been repaired towards the end of august their invoices to united went unanswered. at first they refused to communicate with the warranty company (new leaf) either by phone or email since their client was united electronics even after being told united no longer existed. when i called precision direct they flat refused to talk to me. i mean give me a break its a lens not medical records and i had the serial number. after 2 months of phone calls and emails it was finally straightened out and i received my lens minus both caps a Hoya uv filter and the soft case from Pentax. for some reason precision had shipped the lens direct to me and the rest minus the filter to new leaf. new leaf shipped the stuff to me priority mail and purchased a new Hoya filter from Adorama and had it shipped direct to me to replace the lost filter. i have to say new leaf went out of their way to try and resolve the problem and so far the lens is working but based on my past experience with precision the jury is still out. they shipped an expensive lens without either cap or the filter that had been attached since the day i received it. had the front or rear element been scratched i would have went ballistic. Pentax really needs to find another service center or look into hiring their own technicians. my third and hopefully last experience with precision.
