I hope you like my attempt at helping new-comers to update their firmware.
It was shot on an iPad - not the easiest device for steady hand held video.

It looks very low-res here - got to YouTube for a better view.

Hi
I would suggest for starters, looking around this forum. The 'Articles' menu then sub menu 'Articles and Guides', has lots of useful info. Using a search engine like Google can help find specifics like manufacturers, products, photographers. Google'ing 'K1000 Asahi Pentax SE' gives lots of interesting results. You have a step learning curve to begin with, photography is a big area, but it gets easier as your knowledge grows. Just be patient.

Something you might be aware of, is that the K1000 Asahi Pentax SE is a film camera, not a digital one. You should probably weigh up the cost of film verses digital photography. Film equipment is cheap but the on-going costs of development and printing are high. Mush higher than digital. Especially when, with digital, you can selectively print the photos yourself, on a colour printer.

Cheers

Hi, just got yesterday, a Pentax 100mm F2.8 WR macro. So far it is excellent. The black lens looks good on the K-3 silver body; as does all my black lenses. The K-3 silver has black grips and silver metal work; so all Pentax mount lenses, I have seen, would look fine on the K-3.

Hope this helps.:)

Recently taken at Botanic Gardens.
Approx 4 meters away, cropped.
Shallow DOF is obvious, when 300mm FL is used here. Flash used is AF-360FGZ -1 EV.
1/180sec & F5.6

As you may be aware, the PENTAX AF 360FGZ, works well with all flash modes.
I use it a lot; the only one I can personally vouch for. Used on K100D, K-r, K-3.

Hi all from Australia.

Thanks for running this forum, admins.

I have enjoyed photography from B&W 120mm roll film days to the digital aps-c sensor types, I'm using now.
Been a long time since I've taken a film photo.

35mm type cameras I have owned and some stuff, they came with.
(there might be errors, memory is a little foggy of the earlier times)

SLR
1) Ricoh XR-1 with Rikenon 50mm f1.7all manual prime
2) Pentax SFXn with 35-70mm FA macro zoom & AF 500 FTZ flash

DSLR
1) Pentax *ist DS with Sigma DC18-125mm zoom
2) Pentax K100D with Sigma DC 18-50mm zoom
3) Pentax K-r with Pentax 18-55mm zoom
4) Pentax K-3 Silver Limited Edition body

I am glad I started on a very manual 120 roll film camera, when I was a kid.
I learned a lot about exposure, DOF , estimating focus, composing a shot, etc.
The digital era has made the whole photo taking process so much more immediate and therefore, even more creative fun.

The very new K-3 has been extremely fun and a joy to use. AF is quick and accurate.
Works well with the Sigma 70-300mm OS; macro at a reasonable distance is very useful.
Sharpness, colour, contrast from the 24Mpix sensor is very good;
still life and outdoor(surf) photography has great results.

I do miss the Scene Modes, that areon the K-r. They are quick and easy to use.
K-3 Green mode is very good, though, at changing camera settings automatically,
to suit the perceived subject matter.
Green gets it right most times and much faster then I could ever hope to.

See you all round the posts.
