I have no problem mixing-and-matching lenses and bodies, especially classic lenses on digital bodies. But at the same time, I do like to be able to have the "right" lens on the "right" body if I want. The Auto-Tak on the SV just seems to work nicely.

Anyone have an image of the 46mm lens hood for the Auto-Tak 55mm/2.2? In this case, it is because I think it really needs a hood! I noticed a fair bit of flare when the sun was coming from the side. I guess the lack of SMC coating doesn't help.

I took these to answer a query on the UK forum but thought I would post it here too. I'm a bit of a sucker for having the right period accessories to go with my cameras when I am using them!

I remember wanting an A1 when I was a teenager because it had all those modes (six?). Now I have a K-3 with even more and what happens, I use Av 99.9% of the time! We live and learn...

Just had an Auto-Takumar 55mm f/2.2 lens repaired so I had a suitable lens for my SV. Almost finished my first roll of Ektar.

Nice! I love that version of the Minolta logo. I am resisting the temptation to expand my 35mm SLR collection beyond Pentax. No room, and what I have doesn't get used enough apart from my main favourites.

I once had my hand luggage thoroughly searched because the Iraqi security guys were puzzled as to what the big old hunk of metal and glass was. I think they were disappointed when it was only an old f/1.2 lens...

Light meter on my pentax MX not showing 'correct' exposure

Don't forget it's only the meter. You can use a hand held meter and set the exposure accordingly. Probably more accurate for difficult low light situations anyway and as, I presume, you are using a tripod, not much additional fiddling about.

I thought I'd try the film users first given the age of the lens and the fact many of us like using old gear. If I get no joy, I'll dip my toe into the lenses pool...

Could someone please post an image of the back of this lens? I have one which doesn't lock shut. It looks to me as if there is something missing at the rear of the lens.

Many thanks, Kris.

My Ondu came with a guide etched onto a wooden keyfob. It says the f/stop is f/160 and suggests metering for f/22 and then using the following exposure times.

1/125 -> 1/2
1/60 -> 1sec
1/30 -> 2 sec
1/15 -> 5 sec
1/8 -> 10 sec
1/4 -> 20 sec
1/2 -> 42 sec
1 sec -> 2 minutes
2 seconds -> 4 minutes
4 seconds -> 9 minutes
8 seconds -> 26 minutes
15 seconds -> 1 hour
30 seconds -> 4 hours

I've found using my handheld meter on the shadows, it works pretty well. One or two of the indoor shots could have done with longer, but that is because I erred on the side of the metered 8 second exposure rather than 15 seconds as I didn't have an hour to spare...

I stopped using the camera in 12 x 6cm format partly because the vignetting at the edges was so much that it didn't really add anything. Mostly, I now use 6x9 but with only one baffle in the right-hand 6x6 slot so that I get, in effect, a front rise. I don'tt mind the vignetting in the sky as it is acting a bit like a grad filter. (Actually, I don't think vignetting is quite the right word, but you'll get my meaning.)

Cheers, Kris.

How to convince Ricoh to crowdfund the Q macro lens?

Having come very late to the Q-party I am finding the system very much to my liking. Partly, I guess, because I find it difficult to take my APSC stuff on a bicycle... It would be great if we could persuade the powers-that-be that there is a niche for the system, and start to support it once more.

I have a great sentimental attachment to the ME Super as it was my first SLR. I did, however, wear it out, twice. The original is still on the shelf, but long non-functional. I have several others, which I use sparingly. If I need a reliable 35mm camera, I use my LX and/or the chrome MX. I have a black MX which despite a full CLA, suffers from occasional film slippage issues.

In the long term, getting reliable 35mm bodies is going to get harder and harder.

ME Super Metering Issue (No suprise) - But Can I trust the shutter speeds ?

Common ME Super problem. Often it is dirt/corrosion under the ASA/exp comp dial. Turn the dial back and forth quite a few times and the problem often goes away. Manual shutter speeds are usually fine, try setting 4, 2 and 1 second and checking roughly.

I have a book (?"Beyond the zone system" I think) that has a blueprint for making one using a Spotmeter. At the moment I'm mainly playing around with tilts, swings and rises etc...

For the moment I'm sticking with FP4 for BW (and Portra 160 for colour). Once I start feeling confident with that, I'll start playing with other film stocks etc.

I, personally, enjoy spending quite some time taking a single frame. A non-photographer friend of mine said he found it annoying if he had to spend more than a minute taking a shot with his phone...

I once spent the better part of a week travelling around in the back of a 4WD in Romania with Terry filming for his series "Terry Jones' Barbarians". I was the "talking head" expert on the Dacians and we filmed together at Sarmizegetusa Regia up in the mountains of Transylvania. He was great fun and very articulate. The next time I met him in London, he didn't remember me and was clearly having problems. I thought something was wrong but it was at least a year before his illness was made public.
