Interesting enough, the only non-Pentax K-mount lenses I have are Sigma {since I discovered zoom, and most photos I take are at f/5.6 or narrower, I have very few lenses}

At another discussion forum, I have encountered several former Pentax users who blame Pentax's response {none} to K-30 or K-50 aperture control failures to their decision to change brands. I purchased a used FA 28-105mm and then shot with "green button" metering until I got a KP. Some people will always be looking for an excuse for the GAS that makes them determined to spend money.

It has been rainy around here, but the squirrels still expect me to feed them.
They will be very disappointed when I decide that nature is doing fine without my help.

I don't normally feel sympathy for the Blue Jays - they wake me up in the morning with their cries - but this one waited and waited and waited.

Eventually he went off and looked for another source of food. The squirrel saw no reason to hurry - this is the squirrel feeder afterall

When I first put up the feeders last fall, the squirrels checked out the "squirrel proof" bird feeder, but quickly turned to the "squirrel feeder" and the seeds on the ground dropped by sloppy eaters {and me in my clumsiness}. Now, that we are nearing end of the 'feeding season', now that nature has started providing food again, they are back at it.

i went out on a walk today to see how the stores at our local {strip}mall are dealing with the pandemic. In view of the purpose of this walk, I took only the FA 28-105mm with my K-30, but partway there I saw this guy high it a treetop watching me, so I took his photo also. When I got home and cropped the photo, I discovered that a tiny twig had been in the way - but I think it is an interesting view anyway.

Is @Adam still planing an interview??
Honestly I would hate for him to fly across the Pacific, but he would make a perfect conduit for "letting info slip".

I’m not so sure about your “chances are” statement. According to Wikipedia, this camera is contemporaneous with my “Super Program” which l purchased new in 1983 and used for the next twelve years. It has sat around ever since then. has never received any “love” except my cleaning the outside a year or so ago after someone commented how ”filthy” it was becoming, but it worked fine the last time I ran a roll of film though it last year.

There isn't even an adapter between KAF or KAF2 or KAF3 or even KAF4 and Q-mount that allows AF!!

I began as you postulated - but my photography greatly improved when zoom lenses of all sorts allowed me to choose perspective and framing separately.

I purchased my first SLR - a Pentax “ME/SE” - in 1979. I purchased my first zoom - a Vivitar 70-210mm - three years later because I could neither afford nor carry even a fraction of the focal lengths covered, and as primarily a Kodachrome shooter, cropping was not a thing.

Today, zoom lenses - like the 55-300mm PLM - are in a completely different world from what was available forty years ago.

"Zooming with feet" changes perspective as well as framing. Some times walking backwards even gets objects in the way. I would rather change focal length to get both the framing and perspective I want.

The usual prime vs zoom discussion. I use the Sigma 10-20mm lens. I could not carry 11 primes in my bag even if they existed, and I am not that much of a perfectionist.

With left hand supporting lens, I don’t believe in “unbalanced”.

Being on a fixed income, I am basically using “savings” to live. With my DA 77-420mm PLM {DA 55-300mm PLM + 1.4TC}, DA 55-135 DC, and Sigma 10-30mm on my KP and Q-7, I don’t need anything, so I plan to take photos without spending anything. Of course, if Pentax would revive the “Q” line with a EVF-equipped member, I would look for the money, but I don’t expect that to happen.

I would prefer something the size of the older lenses, but I'm not sure it would sell these days. The old lenses had interesting rendering in the middle, but people today seem to expect the corner-to-corner sharpness that wasn't a thing back then.

Right now, that is basically true.
This is a slow time for Pentax news.
My personal daily post count is down.
Little snow here this Winter.
Oh well.

I am quite sure Pentax would have had nothing more than what we have seen by now.
If that is a "disappointment", then so be it.

I am currently using the flash which I originally used to photograph our daughters born in 1987 and 1991.

I would hate a system which forced me to purchase a new system which was "new" only in the sense of their interface.

If we are restricted to talking about subjects that involve real news, this place may be mostly silent for half a year - have you checked with Adam, who just ran contests that had the effect of increasing posts???
