Do Pentaxians drive Subarus?

Recently bought our first Subaru (Forester) and I read something that sounded familiar on the Subaru wiki page:

"Subaru vehicles have traditionally attracted a small but devoted core of buyers."

Hmmm... sounds kind of like Pentax.

I love this... My Dad had a darkroom in the house when I was born but he died when I was only 6 years old in 1969 ... enjoy every chance you get to share photography with your Dad. I would so love to spend a day shooting photos with my Dad and showing him my K3 and what it could do... Can you imagine how that would blow his mind!?

I keep the grip on my K3 all the time... Makes it fit my hand like a glove and a beautiful balance for large and heavy lenses. Enjoy it!

EXIF incorrectly shows focal length of 120mm because of accidentally hitting down instead of OK when turning on the camera in the dark with this manual lens.

Is Pentax still appealing for beginners in photography?

I think most beginners will see less capable video and AF in a heavy body and not stick around long enough to find out what makes Pentax special.

Makes me curious about ratio of Pentaxians who started with the brand straight away with a DSLR vs. with a previous film SLR...

Like my DAL 55-300 that would occasionally produce some lovely shots all the while auto focusing like a Mack Truck laboring uphill... just as loud too.

Lovely photo Serkevan... hope you can find another clean copy of that lens.

After driving 40 minutes to go shooting with no SD card in the camera... !*#!... I've gotten in the habit of always leaving the door open when I take the card out, and haven't ever forgotten since.

I was very happy to get one of those Adorama K70's for $347... now I need to find the time to go out and shoot it.

And manual transmissions outsell automatics.

Here in US I drive a manual and shoot Pentax DSLRs making me wonder if there is a connection and which is more rare...

That pretty much captures my perspective ... I may not have as many keepers due to AF or using MF, but it is so satisfying to get a good or even great image you had a work for... and so enjoyable to use a ergonomically designed instrument like a K3 or K70 to do it.

Do you have a grip mounted on the camera and is it turned on? I find when I try to shoot normal łandscape with a grip that is turned on, the bottom of my right palm near the pinky rests on the grip's shutter release interfering with the autofocus as the camera tries to interpret input from both shutter releases at the same time.

Used cameras with film in them

My father died in 1969 when I was 6 and my uncle gave me his Kodak 35 rangefinder a couple years ago. One day I was messing around with it and wound it and noticed the takeup wheel turning indicating there was film inside!

My uncle had used the camera for a number of years after my dad gave it to him when he upgraded to an SLR. But he didn't recall what film could be inside.

I've since opened it and discovered a half shot roll of film from the early 80's... while my 94 year old Uncle still can't remember what the film could have on it, my guess is that he took the camera to either my college graduation or wedding for the history of it representing his brother. I'll be getting it developed soon to see if anything has survived to reveal the mystery.
