Feels like it affects all shuttespeed. Sometimes it will drop down when I push it and fire.
Just got it from an auction so its never been cleaned I think.

Anyone know which part of the mechanism needs to be fixed? Im quite handy so its no problem but I dont know where the fault is located.

Hi

The mirror on my Pentax MX is stuck in open position. It is not the foam making it stuck because when I push it down it goes back up. The shutter works. I can see it open and close but the mirror just doesnt wanna go diwn. It thinks it is in live view mode. :)

Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi.

Just bought a smc Pentax K 30mm 2.8 later version in good condition.

Late version in that the text looks like the M-series lenses and smc with small letters.

Is this lens very rare because I cant find any pictures on the internet?

If you dont mind manual flash 2 yongnuo 560 and some cheap receiver/transmitter would be nice and cheap.

There are also good flashes from metz with full automatic.
48, 50, 58 are good models. There are some new versions of those too. I cant remember the names. Its like 52 or something.

They can swivel, allow high speed sync etc.

Ive owned a couple limiteds.

Da15 - rock solid

Fa43 black late version - wobbly

Fa43 early silver version - rock solid.

The silver one feels much better in quality making the black one feel plastic in comparison. :/

Had a lens with separation/haze on the back glass once. When shooting in good light conditions it would give a hazy image. Kinda dreamy effect.

When you focus the lens to the shortest focus distance the outer will reveal 3 screws on the side. You remove them and slide it off. After that you will see 3 screws inside looking from the front. These screws holds the focus thing and the focusing scale accuracy. From here you can check if there is something stuck inside.

If you cant find anything you can try to loosen the screw a little bit and tightning them to check if it is maybe some misalignment causing the friction.

If that doesnt work go on like this:

Once these 3 screw are removed you can rotate the focus thing freely (dont lift it up!). You should be careful here because the metal brush is stuck with this thing. If you pull it straight up the screw threads of the helicoud inside will bend the tiny fins on the brush. (When i say tiny i mean it. :) ).

Hope this helps.

I think it is the metal brush that is attached to the focusing thing that has been jammed or something. You access it by digging in from the front. It is very easy to jam it up even more when removing the focus thing so be extremely careful. The focusing scale will not match so you will have to calibrate the focus.

It is the f and not the fa one right?

I think there are more skilled members that can give you better advice. :)

The first time I got my metz flash the same thing happened me. I was like omg the thing is stuck, then I realised you have to unscrew it all the way to fully retract the locking pin. Maybe youve got the same problem?

Wanting to upgrade from K-5 to K-5ii/iis - Have some questions

Thanks for the replies. The reflection on the viewfinder comes from not having my eyeball glued on it blocking all light from the sides. Yeah I wear glasses so the distance becomes greater. Using the OME53 helps a little but using it with glasses vignettes and the view feels weird. Some sort of distorted.

I think I will go for the K-5iis because I have a NEX 5n with same sensor already. That would help taking moirefree pictures. Perfect combo. :)

Hi

Ive read that the focus accuracy of the K-5ii is better than the original one so I want to upgrade to it because my FA 43 need different AF adjustment depending on the situation. Maybe the 2.8 sensor will work better?

How is the optical viewfinder in K-5ii vs K-5? My K-5s viewfinder have alot of reflections so I cant see through it clearly. Does the K-5ii have the same one?

The takumar bayonet version look like a toy with aperture numbers in different colors.

Takumar bayonet have text outside the barrel. The K135/2.5 has the text around the front glass.

Which photo is which lens at 135mm?

Well. If I did see a comparison like this I would also say 55-300 - 135 - 50-200 but the result is:

Upper left: DA 50-200 WR
Upper Right DA 55-300
Down: K135/2.5

Im confused too. :(

I see a lot of sample variations. The DA 50-200WR I have now is a very good one. Sharpness is equal to all M and K 135/3.5 Ive tested and it beat 2 samples of 55-300 Ive owned. The third 55-300 copy (the one tested) is better than my very good copy of DA 50-200WR.

The many white dots on the black surface on upper right pic. Is that the definition of better micro contrast?
