I'm a die hard Pentax fan, K1, K3, K50. Even when a New body may be released, I don't have any desire to upgrade at this point. There are no new tricks or gadgets, that I would require, YMMV. Only when a body finally fails through age or otherwise would I look for another body. Even in traveling, If I don't want to carry a DSLR, I don't need anything other than my smartphone for my needs.

But, when your seventy, when your down, your down, until somebody comes along to help you up.
Even with the tilt screen, I take a small folding stool.

I love it when some one comes off with this "It's Better" just cause it's full frame.

"Better" is a relative term. I happen to own a K1 and a K3 and K50 along with a Gopro, Fuji xp90, Kodak easyshare and a couple of video cameras..

Whats better, well it depends.
What am I shooting and what do I plan on doing with the shots.

Better, sure, when I'm standing in the surf up to my chest taking pictures of the waves, that full frame k1 isn't worth a damn.

Each has it's strengths and uses.

What used Tripod head should I get?

My Favorite is the RRS BH-55 ball head, but that is why out of your stated price range.

On another, lighter weight tripod I use a Oben BE-117T ball head.It works well for photos and it has panning capability
I use a K50 and K3 on regularly .

The only thing I don't like about it is the position of the slot for tilting, I'm right handed and tilting up steeply requires the lock knob to be on the left.

A minor thing, really. Runs about $90 at B&H

I don't know how wide your thinking. I have an 8mm Rokinon I have a lot of fun with on the crop sensors. Manual focus. Have it set on f8 and refocused at 1 meter, using aperture priority, just frame with live view, never change the focus or f stop.

I use a Rokinon 85mm f1.4 on K50, K3 and K1. Manual focus but I'm happy with it.

Oh, Boy, Am I there and doing *That!!*.. I've heard landscape is one of the hardest forms of photography...

Signed up with "Light Stalking.com" for advice and critique. It's helping.

There are some well seasoned photographers there that can point out things I totally miss.
Good Luck ;))

Weather resistance of wr ff/fa lenses on the k-1

This is a case of "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should". I consider the "weather" sealing a backup plan, for went I screw up... If things are going to get "submerged", I have cameras designed for that.

Why A BIG Camera When The Latest Smart Phones Are So Capable?

I shoot with K50, K3 and K1 for the same reason I shoot Pentax cameras to begin with. They are photographers cameras.

Cell phones, as good as some are, in my opinion, still belong in the bathroom selfie crowd..

Don't get rude, just how I feel.

Af540fgzii flash, On Camera.

Can I activate second curtain with the flash in manual mode or is it limited to P-TTL only?
I would like to adjust the flash output manually in rear curtain.

I use a Canon Professional Gadget Bag 1EG as my main bag. It's a shoulder type, built tough, holds loads of stuff. I use a marker to black out the canon label. ;))

Why I won't buy into another camera brand - I'm keeping my Pentax gear.

Another brand does not offer anything I don't already have, need or want. My three Pentax bodies, K50, K3 and K1, have all the tricky stuff I require, what would be the point, other than spending a lot of money.

I use a Rokinon 20mm 1.8 (Samyang) and the Cokin "P" holder on my K1. When you get to 20mm and wider on full frame your options are limited.
