I think you've sold it!! I can't find one for less than 500, which I can just about stretch to if I sell something else! (I won't get anything for the K100d - too dated, and too manhandled by me!)

Thanks for the advice

Thanks - a lot of detail is lost in cropping, which I'd like to improve upon - I'll check out the 20!

I have had my K100d for a year now and love it, but am ready to upgrade. I don't want to spend a fortune as my skill level does not justify it, but don't know which model - any advice would be very welcome indeed!

I have just purchased the above rather spontaeously from a junk shop, and am a bit unclear as to how to operate it with the K100d as I am not familiar with manual lenses. I have managed to set it up so that the camera recognises it but:

1) I'm not sure what focal length to input when prompted and
2) it doesn't zoom, it has a fixed length and I'm not sure how to tell what length it's fixing at

Sorry, if these are really stupid questions, would appreciate some help if anyone cares to assist..

thank you!

I am genuinely excited about trying out that focus thing thank you!

THanks a lot Chris, that's really helpful, my idea of composition is "oo that looks ok I'll shoot it"..I haven't really mastered getting the bits I want in focus to be in focus, and the bits I don't want, not to be (I wanted the ceiling lamp to be severely out of focus, as I thought that would look good but it just looks fuzzy for no reason..no idea how to achieve the desired effect (albeit that the outcome might turn out not to be worth the effort, it would be great to know how to get there..!!)

Ok thanks - I called it Paint and Shoot (which didn't make sense without the ladder). See what you mean though

I would really appreciate some tips on making pics such as this just much much much better! Was trying to do a self portrait in low light as my room is being decorated and I liked the way the new lamp was reflecting in the mirror and I thought a portrait would be an interesting composition. Fiddled about with it on Flickr but it still looks a bit rubbish to me - what could I have done/can I do to make it a more interesting photo?

Aperture F4, focal length 33

Got a K 100d and a kit 18-55 lens (saving up for a 50mm F.14)

thanks for any help at all, this is my first slr and I'm trying to get my head round it all

K100d vs K100d Super - what to do

thanks very much for your help, I really appreciate it. As I have been using the camera constantly and apart from the dust thing I have nothing to complain about, I'm going to keep it and have spoken to ebay - also remembered the guy threw in a free book which is pretty good, and as I love the camera I can't be bothered to complain - no feedback from me though..

I would really appreciate some help if anyone can be bothered to improve my compositions and technique so am posting a portrait on the want help bit that just doesn't cut it the way I want it to.

thanks all again for your advice, it's a great help

thanks, that's interesting what you say about the dust reduction, from what you say it's not that much of a benefit which I assumed that it would be. I've paid approximately the going rate for the 100d second hand, and it's hard to tell what the super goes for as so few of them seem to be around (which in itself suggests to me that it's a better deal..). I did think I was getting a bit of a bargain so that would be why!
