Next hours or days we get a new firmware for K-1

If they could squeeze out some extra FPS that would be glorious. Not to mention much better tracking AF. Fuji just did it with their existing hardware, why can't Pentax?

Still comes down to vast majority of Pentax products are bought by current Pentax owners. Pentax fails to attract new customers even though they have a superior product, for now. IMHO, if Pentax concentrated on what they do best, making cameras that are better than the competition for less, & then go on an evangelistic crusade, sales would increase. Creating everything from viral videos to demo events at photography groups to conventions to putting ambassadors across the country and more, is not that expensive.

Also, Pentax is missing a revenue opportunity from a Service standpoint as well. It would save Ricoh's struggling Service business. And/or, enlist the many camera shops that are still alive and create local service centers all across the country. Not just great from a Service standpoint but from a Marketing standpoint as well. It's how my former Service company helped manufacturers many years ago. Not covered in MBA school though.

Focusing on being the best in it's category has gotten Pentax recognition, they should build on that. Best MF, best FF, hopefully soon best ASP-C. And stop there! Be great, not semi-good for everyone.

Just seems like a lot of water can get in there. Not to mention corrode the screw. Still on the fence as to whether I should return it. Was hoping Adam would reply but the poor guy probably needs to take time off, sometime... :-p

When I hold the camera up against my computer monitor, I see light. The pins are all in & the camera works. And it is very very tightly screwed in. Is this normal? Thanks.

Loss of functionality since upgrade on K1 to v1.30

Hello, upgraded to 1.30 a few days ago. Haven't used my camera til today.

Noticed I wasn't shooting to slot 1 but to slot2, tried to set it to the first setting (fill up 1 then use 2) but its grayed out.

I tried multiple SD cards, still grayed out. Reset. No luck.

Curious thing, when I hit the button on the back of the camera that swaps slots, it would never recognize slot one to shoot to and I lost functionality on the d pad as well meaning, could not set outdoor brightness etc. When I hit it again, everything worked on the d pad and it showed slot 2 as active.

Now when I go into menus, I can set for shooting to both slots ... and the camera indeed shoots to both. But only to 2 when I try the first setting and when I try to switch to the first setting, it actually shows slot 2 as primary

Any known issues for what I'm experiencing? Thanks.

Question about the K1& settings please. I just got mine and have proceeded to turn off all corrections & NR settings like I always have with all my Pentax cameras (still have a K5 IIs for sale!). Is it necessary like it was with APS-C bodies or are there added benefits? Thanks.

Thanks everyone. Guess that heartens me since I just sold a K3 II (and trying to sell a K5 IIs). So effectively I'm replacing both cameras with added benefit of FF hmm? Meaning in the K1 I have 2 cameras. Nice.

Meaning, I know that NR is miles ahead of the K3 II when in FF mode. But is it just as good when the crop mode is used?

Thanks.

Still same price on Amazon ;-)

On serious side, completely agree (although I just pulled the trigger).
Additionally, I've had to stop reading these forums as much since all this pointless speculation & gear porn lust gets old. And gets one poor. :-D

Amazon did change their price over the weekend, promptly put a red line through it and are still selling it for $1796.95

I wanted to buy from B&H but when I saw the increase, bought from Amazon yesterday. I hope B&H aren't shooting themselves in the foot. I'd like to be able to buy from them again one day (bought all my cameras from them).

Pentax pricing suggestions! (Rant time!)

Maybe I'm being extra cranky today due to having a rough day homeschooling my 5 year old twins but here goes...

Just read yet another post, usually in 'rumors', where a wishlist of Pentax gear is given... along with what they want to pay for it.

STOP IT!!!

Why in the world do people keep telling Pentax what they would pay for something???

Thankfully Pentax has never listened to you! I've been reading these threads for a year and too many put a price on the gear and Pentax always comes in lower! Thankfully!

LET PENTAX PRICE THEIR OWN STUFF!!!

Just a HUGE pet peeve of mine!

To be fair, maybe the poster thinks they are displaying their intelligence & grasp of the industry unlike the rest of little people that read these threads.... quite the opposite IMHO. Not trying to insult anyone, just don't understand this type of thinking. Then again, I also don't understand how giving someone billions of dollars is going to hinder them from developing nuclear weapons. So maybe its just me.

Do these posters also walk into a car dealership and tell the sales guy they want to pay more for their car??? Unfortunately, they probably do if it has a Pentax label on it! (sorry, had to take one more shot!)

End of rant! Flame away!

PS- if you like over-paying so much then go Canikon! (last shot, promise!)

Where are my kids? :-O

Hoping for firmware, instead, getting another new camera

Meaning, I've been hoping that the K3 II would get a firmware update but instead we're getting another camera that seems to have "borrowed" a few things from the K3 II, adding to it, making my recent purchase yesterday's news.

On the positive side, maybe we will get a firmware update to match the K 70... that would be nice.

However, I fear the only way I'll get anything is if I buy yet another camera... which I'm not doing.

Don't mean to rant so I'll stop there.
