It's gotta be way lighter than original;). A lot of metal is no longer in place!

Yes, that's where it is at. The last race at the track was in the late 60's. .9 mile dirt track and the last race was won by Richard Petty, from what I can gather. The forest had reclaimed the track but in recent years there has been some restoration work and it is open as a walking trail. I live pretty close to it but only recently found out about it.

And you can do selective editing, including sharpening, with photolab. So you could sharpen overall image then if sides needed a little more, just brush on a mask and sharpen only masked area.

Nice shots and I agree on the colors. Here is one from my K100D Super (with K series 24mm 2.8, I think).

I had the Tamron 90mm af. It was a good all around lens. Focus locked on good with my K5IIs and worked well as a regular lens as well as macro. I should have kept it;)

I've only seen 2 other Pentax camera's in the wild. 1 is my daughter (my fault) and the other is one of my co-workers ( my fault too...darn it). My daughter did see a guy from Japan (very little English) that picked her out on the Blue Ridge Parkyway (North Carolina), because she has one of those large "PENTAX" straps on her camera. She said he had a Pentax camera around his neck and was grinning ear to ear and was looking for directions. Directions, right, there are only 2 ways you can go on the parkway. I bet he was looking for directions:mad:

Here is one I always liked. Taken with my K7 in 2014. Murphy is still with us and belongs to my daughter and her husband. He lost a back leg as a pup. He fell out of the back of the truck on his first ride in a pickup. His second ride in a pickup was a trip to get neutered. For years afterwards, you could not get him near that pickup..."lets see, first time I lost a leg, second time I lost my>>>>, no way I getting anywhere close to that truck". He is quite the character.

Rain, telephoto and both you and the subject moving would be difficult. I am no expert but can make a few suggestions.

Raw is your friend when it comes to adjusting after the fact. If you are used to jpg , shoot raw + jpg for a while until you are comfortable with raw. That's how I started out. Now I only shoot raw because of the greater ability to adjust after the image is taken. And I used to use the K-7 and the in camera jpg's are not the best, especially with regards to noise.

For this image looks like it could be under exposed. I use the histogram function on the camera to get the exposure as close as possible when shooting. You can use ev compensation to push the exposure one way or the other (lighter or darker).

Or you can shoot in manual mode. Green button meter to get baseline, then adjust shutter, aperture and iso till you get it where you like it.

That had to be a sight being so close to the whales!

You just never know. Good think you found the foreign object. Intermittent issue can drive you crazy.

I had a dualsport motorcycle once that would randomly shut off while riding. Then as soon as you would stop, it would start up an go for another 2 - 3 days before it would do it again. Was making me nuts. Turns out where the tool box and owners manual were stored was right by the intake. The manual was in a plastic bag and the bouncing around caused it to occasionaly get sucked over the intake, choking the engine.

Anyway, glad you solved it. Happy shooting!
