Yup. Father's day show at the Casino in Lincoln City. My folks live there and my step mother was cool enough to get my father and I tickets for father's day.

Manual lens question

Thanks for the replies. Transit, that was the info I was looking for. I was a little vague in my question, my bad. I hadn't used my M42's in a while and knew there was a way to get the shutter speed to work with the aperture, minus the green button. Thanks for bridging the gap in my memory.

Manual lens question

I am pretty sure the answer is no, but is there any mode(I have a K10D) that will will adjust shutter speed when I change my aperture manually, or does it only give me auto shutter or ISO or both, but only at max aperture? Thanks

Here are a few from a Merle Haggard show I went to on father's day this year.

K10D, ISO 1600(1250 on the last one and it seems as though I turned off the SR for some reason for that one), 135mm f/2.5 @ either 2.5 or 4, I don't remember. No post processing, but they have all been decreased in size for photobucket.

Pentax SMC K 1.8 55mm vs. A 1.7 50mm?

I have or have had the 1.7 in A and M, while owning the K55 at the same time. The K55 and the SMC Tak 55 seem to be the same thing optically to me. I kept the Tak and sold the K, I regret it know, but so be it. The 1.7's and the K/SMC Tak 55 both pop wonderfully. I didn't notice a real difference between all four, except the increase in plastic on the A.

Is the SMC Pentax-M 35mm worth US$100?

I found this lens with the sticky aperture problem. I paid $15 bucks due to said problem. A few minutes with good screwdrivers and all is well. The 5 screws on the back need to be unscrewed and then screwed back in, but not at tight. It seems as though the mounting plate can squeeze down on the aperture lever, causing a sticky aperture. I have not come across any really dogs in the K/M/A world, it is just that some as though there are some real winners in that group, which make the rest pale in comparison. I really like the 35mm for close in portraits, like at the same coffee table...

B&W Highlight question

I want this photo in B&W, but the highlights are blown. Is there anyway to fix this? The highlights on my son's head are my concern. I have lightroom 2 and CS4 to work with, but if I need other software, please let me know. I am relatively new to photography, I bought a camera a month prior to my son's birth, so that is 21 months ago. I think only new parents count in months.

Side note, my friends and I counted up our age in months when some one asked how old he is and I replied in months. It is weird to think of myself as 389 months old.

It is hard to get these little guy's faces in focus. I end up liking my photos due to their composition, so there are more kinda fuzzy face photos than I want Thanks for any info.

Patrick

I just picked up this lens and haven't really had a chance to test it, but my question is this; I was under the assumption that the K and M glass are fo the same optical formula, so why is the rating for the K version of this lens higher than the M version?

Actually a pretty cool lens. There is a small dent in the built in hood, otherwise this lens is in really good condition. I think this lens is pretty damn sharp wide open. The first photo is wide open. I also have the SMC K 135mm f/2.5, so try to figure out which is which. $30 plus shipping.

Here are a couple that I took last night. I just picked up an old Vivitar 285, non HV, that measures at 6.9 volts, so I was practicing off camera lighting via cords. My son, who was the reason that I bought a camera, is trying to teach my father to blow his nose. The first two I I had to push the exposure to the right in lightroom. I paid $14.99 for the lens. Hate me now, it's OK. I bought a F 50/1.7 at the same thrift store for $30 on a K1000.

I know that these photos don't do this lens its full justice, these are just a couple that I had from last night.

I recently picked up this lens, the first version, at a thrift store while taking my son to visit his grandparents. I remembered the reviews and praise when I found the lens. I was like a little fat kid waiting for cake as the clerk pulled it from the glass case. The lens looks like it was never used. Anyway, I now understand the whole "pixie dust" thing. I sold my A 50/1.7 after picking up the F 50/1.7, big mistake. That lens seems to have been made of the same magic glass, as is my SMC Takumar 55/1.8. I love the 135mm and just wish I could somehow find some A*'s at the thrift store or maybe some limited's, but I am not crossing my fingers. For those of you that don't have this lens, find it.

I have had the M80-200 4.5, the Viv S1 version 1 and a Super Takumar 200/4. The Tak is the only one I have left. The Viv's macro was really nice, the M 80-200 wasn't as sharp as the Tak wide open. The Tak is amazingly sharp. Plus, if your kinda lazy, you can use M42 lenses in Av mode.

Read those already, but thanks. I am more curious as to how different the first and second versions are. According to Dimitrov, the second version was only made in 1984 and is kinda rare. I was hoping maybe someone else will have both and have some insight into the differences.

K10D Firmware 1.3 Debug Mode Unleashed!

I created a file called modset.txt, wrote
[debug_mode en]
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]
turned the camera on with the card door open and pressed the menu button. Turned camera off, closed the door and turned it back on. It then said debug mode. I changed the focus and now I can't get out of debug mode. If I was in debug mode all the time I wouldn't mind, if the screen was blank. I tried the [debug_mode dis] and that does not seem to get it out either. The Russian program just restarts my system every time I try it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times. Not sure what to do next.
When I try the exact opposite with the [debug_mode dis], nothing happens. Turning the camera on and holding the menu button, it tells me dsp ver: 1.30.00.18 cpu ver:1.30.00.18
When I go into the setup menu and hit up it takes me to the "test menu" which only has three options: capture/system test, af test and strings disp test.

I just picked up an M 80-200mm at goodwill for pretty much nothing. I noticed right off the bat that this puppy is sharp wide open. I also noticed that I apparently picked up the second version as the minimum focusing distance is shorter. Can anyone tell me the difference between version I and II, besides length and weight? What is the difference in optical formula besides groups and elements?

So a few days ago I had posted this lens for sale, decided to pull it to do more tests with my other 50's. So, after some tests I decided to put it back on the market. I prefer the long throw of the manual focus lenses. Great lens. I am the second owner. Clear and free of fungus and/or scratches.
