Very nice portrait, Sage! Great high key look.

I like these two flower shots I got recently with the 77. I know, flowers are boring! :)

I have long admired the photos in this thread. Some of the most talented photographers on this site post regularly here. I previously got the FA 77 and love it, but recently acquired the FA 31 used from KEH. It has a few scratches on the barrel, but otherwise seems to work flawlessly. I can't get over the wonderful bokeh!

Here are a couple FA 31 shots:

Nice shots! I don't use the Helios much, but I did take it out this past fall and this was my favorite shot.

Very nice work, Rondec! And a great idea for a thread.

I have had limited use of pixel shift so far, but here are a couple examples, with full size images available on Flickr. I use the same technique as you for processing pixel shift images. However, the sunrise photo below is actually a pixel shift HDR image processed in Photomatix Pro.

Beautiful photos submitted so far!

I took this just before sunrise at the Point in Pittsburgh a couple years ago. I wanted to get this reflection shot and had to get there early because they start the fountain at sunrise. In fact, while I was standing on the edge of the fountain taking photos (complete with tripod), I heard the pool start rumbling and had to scramble to get down before the water started flying. It was a pretty cold morning and that would've been quite unpleasant! :D

This was taken with the K-3 and DA 15 Ltd. f/13, .8s, ISO 100. A bit of HDR processing.

Great shots, everyone! Always inspiring! Rondec, the lightning image is amazing! I have yet to capture lightning. Fantastic!

I know of this cool gothic church building nearby and noticed using the PhotoPills app that the Milky Way appears right behind it. So, I decided to head over last night and try to get a shot of it. Unfortunately, they light the building up like a Christmas tree, so there was no way I could get a decent shot of the MW on site. This is a composite of the church and a Milky Way shot I took with the Astrotracer about 20 minutes later at a darker location.

I have been testing out pixel shift resolution today. Here's one for you. You can check out the original size on Flickr if you wear eye protection. Taken with the D FA 50mm macro.

As always, great shots, everyone! Some fine portraits, landscapes and macros here!

A few images taken Monday on a trip down Skyline Drive in Virginia. All taken with the D FA 28-105 lens. I was impressed with the detail this combo can capture under the right conditions. It was a really windy day. But when I got home and reviewed my photos at full size, some of them had an amazing amount of detail and I wasn't able to use pixel shift at all.

Checking back into this thread! Good to see folks still making great use of the K-3, even with the K-1 hogging all the attention! :)

I have kept my K-3 as backup to the K-1 (and for telephoto use). Here are a few hummingbird shots I like. (DA*300) Last one with the HD DA 1.4x converter.... Shutter speed wasn't quite fast enough but I dig the funky scratching pose.

Amazing eagle shots, cleaverx!
Fantastic work from fs999 as always! :)

This was taken with the Rokinon 14mm. I set the camera to interval shooting, 15s exposure every 20s. This was the best shot, by far. Wish the fireball had positioned itself better, but what are you gonna do?

I wish I'd tried the Astrotracer and maybe tried a 3 min exposure to see if I could get more than one, but they really seemed few and far between. Of 600 images, about 10 of them had meteors in them. You can also see the Milky Way, Pleiades, and M31 Andromeda galaxy in this shot.

Checking in to post a few hummingbird photos. Really enjoyed zhuxyg's shot!

These were taken with the Samyang 135mm lens. It's challenging shooting hummies in flight with manual focus, but catch in focus makes it surprisingly doable. The white background is not photoshopped - the siding under the eave where the feeders are hanging is white and since it was blurred out, it made the background look nice and clean. I did turn up the highlights a tad to get more separation.

Really really loving the K-1 and this Samyang lens is an absolute gem!

On a separate note, I tried shooting hummingbirds with the K-1 and DA*300 with the HD DA 1.4x rear converter. I also tried with the K-3, same setup. The AF on the K-1 was infinitely better about locking on to the birds in flight. The K-3 had a terrible time even finding them and would just rack back and forth most of the time. With the K-1, it immediately saw the birds and then tried to lock focus. Now, it was a bit slow and not always accurate, but I attribute that to the little devils moving around so fast and the tiny DoF I was working with. Just my unscientific findings, FWIW. :)

Exciting! Samyang makes some great lenses. I LOVE the 135/2. I also have the 14/2.8 but find it almost too wide on full frame. I had been thinking about getting the 24/1.4 but now I might wait and see the reviews/user thoughts on this 20mm.

I had to exchange my first copy and Amazon made the transaction very easy. They send the new one out right away - no waiting until the return arrives.

Here's another shot from the lake the other evening. Taken with the Samyang 135 at f/2. Just got this lens and I'm really enjoying it. I'm finding it pretty easy to focus, especially with focus peaking, although the K-1 viewfinder is so good that I can do pretty well with it as well. Of course, it's not a lens I'd use for action photography, but for instances where time is not a factor, it's a pleasure to use. The only con is it's pretty heavy.

The thing is razor sharp wide open. Amazing. I have not had a lens this sharp from wide open. Not so obvious in this photo, just a general observation. :)

Beautiful work, everyone! I check this thread every day for inspiration and to just "wow" at the photos you are posting!!

Here are a couple I got of last night's sunset at Mountain Run Lake in Culpeper, Virginia.

First one taken with the Rokinon 14/2.8. Second one with the D FA 28-105, a few minutes later after it had started sprinkling.

Some lessons learned -- ALWAYS take your tripod! I didn't and my photos could have been so much better if I had. Also, and I can't believe I did this - I didn't turn my camera of when changing between the Samyang 135 and Rokinon 14. So, I wasn't prompted for focal length. The exif is wrong and more importantly the shake reduction was messed up because the K-1 thought I had a 135mm lens on instead of a 14. Lots of my photos turned out blurry because of this. I felt like an idiot when I realized this too late! :o
