The KP is simply amazing. The AF is on another level compared to other Pentax bodies I've used.

I'd have liked to see a comparison to the K-5. I've never liked what I've seen SOOC from the K-3 but I think the K-5 sensor has amazing colors out of the gate with better DR to boot.

That might be my own bias though because I've shot for so long with the K-01.

Corner performance at the wide end on my 17-50 when trying to shoot stars never impressed me at 2.8. It's been a while though.

Maybe I'll try to take a test shot tonight.

My 18-55 is quite a bit off when it comes to autofocus, it front focuses quite badly. When it comes to infinity you're usually better off using live view and zooming in to get the fine focus manually.

Also using the forum's uploader makes images look bad almost always. I recommend uploading to something like Imgur or Flickr to get the best quality.

Oh no - did I challenge the K-1 weather seling too much?

Ikelite did make one for the K5/k7. If you could find one new old stock that'd be an option albeit for an older camera.

And come to think of it this problem could be related to the upgrade itself. If reassembly wasn't done right weather sealing could have been compromised.

It's not just rain it's relative humidity too. Dew can form on the contacts making it not function correctly.

To me this tells me you don't protect against temperature changes when lugging your camera around, which in both of your scenarios could have easily been the cause.

If you're really concerned you could have your camera looked at. I do think it's a bit odd it'd turn on but not off.

I'd love a hybrid viewfinder. I like to compose with the camera off all the time so I don't want to give up that, but I also want easier to read data over what I'm seeing.

You can even get a great 3d effect out of the humble 18-55. Taken today:

Good contrast and the illusion of depth using perspective seems to work great.

Revamped lenses? Yep but with at least WR and rounded iris!

I didn't know that about the 55-300. However since the kit lenses can have versions with/without Quickshift/WR I would imagine that those features could be reasonably added to a lens without a complete redesign.

I don't think changes like WR/DC/Quickshift require whole redesigns. I mean look at kit lenses and the 55-300 PLM.

The only thing I could think of is that they wanted to hit a very specific price point with this lens.

Any advantage of CCD over CMOS?

I do think CCDs have the opportunity to be better than CMOS, the big problem I think is no one has advanced them for consumers since the late 2000s so you end up comparing old CCD tech to new CMOS tech.

Nothing like this there isn't. For people who see the potential in a well corrected, super sharp, fast wide angle like this why shouldn't they buy it?

I didn't know the 11-18 gained that much weight, it should really stop packing in the donuts.

It's more of a pass at certain people insinuating that people who own less expensive cameras wouldn't buy a nice lens.

Some people here have the attitude of "I don't know why I'd want it so that means no one else wants it either". I think the 11-18 will be a stunning companion to the K70.
