Nikon 80-400 VRIi vs Pentax DFA 150-450

I have both lens.
However, I am going to sell the Nikon AF-S 80-400 vr since I am going to shift back to Pentax's FF.

The photos for reference below is from Nikon D810 with Nikon AF-S 80-400 vr

The photos for reference below is from Pentax K-3 with Pentax DFA 150-450mm
http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1296769&extra=page%3D1

My conclusion is the AFC from Nikon is much better than Pentax, whilst AFS performance seem to be the same level from both lens. Although I did try the AFC of the Pentax's combination, however, I did not post any photos mainly due to the result was not up to my standard and satisfaction.
The advantage of the Pentax's lens is AW, whist Nikon's is not weather sealed.
Regarding the image quality, I think the Nikon's lens is a little bit better in the aspects of CA.
Concerning about sharpness, I think both lens are great.
But of course, the statements above are based on my own impressions not being tested with scientific method.

I have owned a FA*600/4 before.
Now I am using a DA560/f5.6; if you ask me which lens I would prefer, I would say DA560 because of its weight.
You may find some of my FA*600/4 photo samples in my PentaxPhotoGallery/PeterLee for reference.
Whilst my recent pics of DA560 could be seen the link below
http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1293741&extra=page%3D1
http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1293745&extra=

I myself prefer DA560 is because I think its cropping ability (resolving power) is even better than FA*600/4.

Thanks, at least 5 or 6 pics were handheld.
The Common Kingfisher on a tree, the White-throated Kingfisher on a branch, the Eurasian Magpie with a grasshopper, all Eurasian Magpies, a sparrow insides the trees with green background, the turtle wide open@f5.6 and Heron standing on a wooden bridge were all handheld.
I agreed the handle/foot of the DA560 is a poor design, which is hard to balance well on a tripod.
Indeed, I am using a Sirui VH-10 video head and Sirui VH-350 long plate and the problem solved. This Sirui setup is light weight and more stable than a gimbal head especially in slow shutter speed such as 1/20 or 1/30 sec.
On the other hand, the foot position of the DA560 makes handheld possible, but of course your hands need to be stable enough and have adequate skills to handle a super telephoto.

Best regards.

Thanks.
I also have the FA*250-600/5.6
Because of the light weight of DA560, I am planning to sell the FA* now.

Also below a few pics from K-5iis.
I seldom post pics in this forum now as I had bad experiences before that my pics were being stolen by others whom claimed to be taken by them instead.

I have the K-3 as well as the K-5iis with FA*250-600/5.6
I do not encounter any AF problem. Focus is accurate and with the K-3, the AF speed is even a bit faster.

Why no DA 560mm reviews?

The DA560 is a joke, at least to me for its price and image quality.
I myself see no reason to buy this lens for its prce whilst image quality is inferior to Sigma 500/4.5 , FA*600/4 and FA*250-600/5.6
I owned the Sigma 545 before the launch of DA560. When DA560 comes out, I once thought whether I should got it because of its WR and DC, however the image quality stopped me for paying such a price.
Eventually I decided to got the FA*600/4 after the launch of DA560,
Here is my pics with FA*600/4
http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1183098

Finally, after deciding to have a Safari trip within these few years, I sold my FA*600/4 to a friend and got the FA*250-600/5.6
http://www.dchome.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1230583

My comment of the image quality re DA560 which is not good enough is based on the Pentax Forum Review, some web photos of Japanese user and Taiwan user and also a Chinese review by a Chinese user.
Sorry to say, I think if I am a bird shooter and have money to spend, I would rather buy the Sigma 500/4.5

How to stabilize a 600mm f5.6...

I used a Gitzo series 4 Aluminum tripod with a Manfrotto 503HDV for my A*600/5.6 before. I also used to mount this lens directly on a Manfrotto monopod in latters days for mobility. Personal view, I will avoid to use ball head for super tele especially for wildlife. Now, my A*600/5.6 was sold and got a FA*250-600/5.6

From the pics by DA560 so far, I really can't say I'm impressed.
Indeed, I was struggling before whether to get a DA560 or just to buy a FA*600/4 from my friend whom had shifted to Canon recently.
I am in favour of the DA560 in view of its weight and fast DC AF. However, counting on the IQ from DA560 as seen, I finally got the FA*600/4 from my friend, not to mention the price was also cheaper than the DA560.

I hopes I have make a wrong choice as I would really want to see good sample pics from the DA560 with IQ better than my FA*600/4 pics as below.

My photos taken by K-7 for reference

I would say current K-5IIs has a much more better AF than previous models. Whether Pentax is adequate for the racing mainly depends on the photographer himself whether the outcomes are up to his expectations. Of course, Pentax's AF speed is stll lacked behind Canon and Nikon and hopes the coming model from Pentax could even better.
