It's just a Pentax K5. I cut and pasted this from a local ad I placed were I was differentiating from a "point and shoot". That said, I include a fast flash card, extra battery, extra charger, lo pro sling bag, and their latest WR 50-135 2.8 lens, which I paid more for than what I'm asking for the whole setup.

Item for Sale
Pentax K5 Pro Camera with Pentax 50-135 2.8 lens, Like new, including optional gear.

Asking Price
1,100.00 USD

Item Location
Asheboro (United States)

Item Description
Both camera and lens weather-resistent. I will include a second battery, a second charger, 8 GB SD high speed card, and an excellent LowePro sling bag that cost me an extra 200 dollars. That's about $1900 retail. Incredible setup. Never had a better quality pro camera. Need to sell. I only say like new because the first week I had it, a small piece of dust got in the viewer. Otherwise I would say mint. It never bothered me so I never had it fixed. The lens is awesome and in mint condition. I'm going to miss having the best outdoors and low-light pro cam.

*PETITION* Lets put an end to the crazy online Pentax lens prices in the US!

I bought the K5, 2.8 135 zoom, and 50mm 1.4 before the last round of price hikes. I was going to buy the 2.8 wide zoom recently, but despite it's lack luster reviews, the price was increased without fixing the problems this forum has repeatedly pointed out.

This pricing has forced me to sell my 50mm lens. The next step was to sell my k5 and 2.8 zoom. I love this kit, but the pricing is crazy. I will hold off to see to see what decision Pentax makes. I loved having something different and high quality, but raising prices without raising quality or feature makes no since in this global economy and great recession.

Night Cinco de Mayo Moon

True, however, I'd rather make the right shot from the camera. In this case the moon was obscured all night but for a few minutes, leaving me to run out of the house without at least a mono-pod, and rush my settings. Honestly I don't use raw, though I should.

Thanks for the comment

Lens prices and our channel strategy in the U.S. - Ned Responses

I wasn't accusing anyone of anything. I asked that because so many members are discouraging other members from negative comments about Ned's statement, and using the term "we" when talking about Pentax. Protecting Ned won't help Pentax. He's a big boy and can handle himself. My opinion is that Ned's statement was bound to stir up many negative feelings based upon repeated experience. If there is one thing I'm sure of, it's that positive ACTION by Pentax will receive positive response.

I have a few questions:

1) Does Pentax own the Pentax forum? It sure seems like it. If that's so, it's not a real forum.
2) What are the rules of this forum. I don't allow cursing in mine, but this is not my forum and I'm not a prude.
3) I hear the words aggressive. Show me what is aggressive, please.
4) Show me what is insulting or bickering on this forum. The blog is not the issue. The issue is the post made on this forum that kindled a frustration over the selection and value of Pentax glass.
5) Since when do you delete posts because they are all negative. Perhaps there is a reason they are negative. Again, what are the forum rules?

I've been in Marketing and Retail for 15 years, and Ned's comments on small stores in the same breath as making the actual street price higher makes no sense to me. Even the larger storefronts don't sell the high-end glass, and that seems to be the lenses most affected. Ned created this mess, not the loyal Pentax customers. Do you think we would take all this time out of our busy schedules vent our frustration for no reason? Meanwhile, long time Pentax customers are questioning their loyalty. For example, I need a high quality WP wide prime and wide zoom for my K5 (which I love). I also love my 55mm and 50-135mm WP lenses. But the absence of WP choices in the wide range makes my investment in Pentax difficult. Pentax has the 16-55 WP, but even the most loyal forum members view it as unfit for the "DA" moniker. To make the street price significantly higher to customers without addressing (fixing) the any of the many issues sited on this lens, by Pentax forum members, is at best an unwise marketing decision.

If you "don't have time (or interest) to" read these posts, then I'm sure you have the option to stop. If this is a real forum, then the members should be free to speak their mind. This is a critical issue. How members feel about what they have to pay for lenses is very important for Pentax to know. If ANYONE limits this, it would render this forum pointless. Having founded three forums I feel strongly about this.

How can you say they haven't raised lens prices?

The 16-50 WP lens just went from 900 to 1500. That is the price I WOULD pay, if I were an idiot. I have not read ONE single article that praises the lens by itself, much less against it's competition. Because I have to have a WR lens, I was going to purchase that lens today, and now I'm considering selling my lenses and K5 (brand new), for a Canon EOS 7D (WD). I'm also looking at the Fuji x pro1.

I love my K5, but the lack of a decent WP wide zoom lens has put the breaks on my investment in Pentax. Sad. I suddenly don't see a future to Pentax.

However, I'm hopeful they will retract this marketing mistake.

Sticky: Dear Pentax

Basics: Branding. As a Marketing and Bus Development Mgr., I understand the importance of branding, then sticking to the branding. Pentax is pushing hard, and making progress with, the weather resistant model. They are introducing killer WR enthusiast cameras, but without ANY decent wide-angle prime or zoom lenses.

1) Redesign the DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL [IF] SDM lens. This is a huge hole in the K-5 lens line. I LOVE my k-5, but, there seems to be no choice for a high quality WR wide zoom lens, even at 800+ dollars.
2) Create a WR wide prime. I'd like to see a 1.4 WR prime in 35mm and 40mm.
