ha! I suppose not. Sony shooters are obviously excited/envious, hoping that Sony can do as well with their own sensor!

I don't know if this is worth a post, or if it should be in news/rumors or elsewhere, but I thought it was fun. I'm currently Pentaxless (in digital, anyway), using an old Minolta 7D and occasionally popping into the Sony forum, Dyxum.com. This thread just popped up:

Amazing K-5 DxO results - Dyxum forums - Page 1

They're pretty good folks over there; a couple dual-system Pentax/Sony users post often. One may even be a moderator. Anyway, a highlight below of one post:

"I'm thinking five things, all good.

i. Nikon FF are pretty scared by this.
ii. Canon are totally scared by this.
iii. I can't wait to see the A580 scores
iv. The A77 should be a cracking camera
v. A FF sensor with this technology would be crazy good."

Yeah, too bad. I'm down in Louisville for part of the summer. The decision to sell the printer now comes as I thin out our belongings for the final move up to Moorhead.

Doesn't anyone want this nice printer? It really wants a home where it's used.

I'm dropping it to $125 + $25 shipping. It's very lightly used, prints huge, beautiful prints. One last price drop before I go through ebay. Wish I could go lower on the shipping, but this thing isn't small. Depending upon where I ship, it will probably cost me more than I'm charging here.

PM with interest or questions.

Thanks.

Bump for price drop

It's a hardly-used printer. Just want to get it off my hands, and into the hands of someone who will use it.

Canon Pixma Pro9000 printer--PRICE DROP

Asking Price
$175--$150!--NOW $125!!

Item Location
Louisville, KY, USA

Item Description
I used this printer to print our wedding photos, and a few other photos. It has had hardly any use. I just don't need such a professional printer, and after much talk, my wife (rightfully) convinced me to put it up for sale.

It has been kept under a compucover brand dust cover that I had made to order when I bought the printer. It is like new except that three of the inks are getting low. I have three extra full inks; however, they are not the same colors that are low. So, you get 8 full or close to full inks, but some are duplicates. I tried to photograph one of two small nicks, maybe 1 mm wide, 2 or 3 mm long. I don't know what they're from, but they're tiny and didn't show up in the photos.

Comes with all original plug, packaging, software and manuals. Everything except a USB cable. Dust cover also included.

Please check my feedback, as I've sold other equipment here and all has gone well.

Thanks for looking.

Shadowfaxes. I pm-ed you a reply. There's no back focus. I found out my splitscreen was slightly off. I shimmed it with thin strips of scotch tape on the edges. The original focus screen is in the camera now.

Here's a link to a recent family gathering--an early Christmas at Thanksgiving. No time to refocus in a small room with little ones.

edit: I just want to add that I'm not selling this camera as is, but guaranteed as advertised.

k10D with 18-55m kit lens and extras, including split screen

Item Description
I bought this kit from the original owner almost new. It had less than 1000 clicks, as far as I could tell (I don't have a tool to check shutter count, so I'm going by the running count that was on it when I bought it). It appeared and operated like new when I bought it. Now, with (I think) about 8000 clicks, it still appears and operates like new.

If anyone with a better exif tool than mine would like to verify shutter count, you can use the pics of the 18-55 glass. Those were two of the last photos taken with this camera. If you do check, a reply in this thread with an accurate count would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The only sign of wear I can see on the camera is on the printed "OK" on the OK button. One leg is faded. Otherwise, I see not scratches, scuffs or wear. Please let the pictures be your guide.

This comes in the original packaging with all you see in the photos:
Body
18-55mm lens (in perfect condition)
battery (with very long life)
charger
A/V cable
Manual
strap
eye-cap

ALSO INCLUDED:
split screen with prism collar (not Katzeye--original screen is in camera, split-screen is in the blue box)
Two 4gig Sandisc Ultra II memory cards
A very handy, small Sandisc card reader

You won't often find a cleaner K10D. Focus is spot on. No issues of any kind that I'm aware of. Thanks for looking. Pics on their way below

Look at this beautiful pic taken wide open with the 50-M 1.4. Also, the pics in my ad of the 50-A were taken with this lens. Look at the second pic. This lens may not be a bathing beauty, but it's beautiful on the inside. Flawless, I'd say. And now for $50 . . .

"Excellent" rating marked below because I had to put something in that field. Detailed evals of lenses as follows:

1. Pentax A SMC 50mm 1.4. Glass is clean, no marks of any kind that I can see. Probably some dust specs inside, but nothing to affect image quality. Aperture is snappy, no oil, fungus or haze. Lens looks great. Focus ring has some play, but no problem achieving sharp focus. Front and rear Pentax caps included. $100 plus shippingSOLD

2. Pentax M SMC 50mm 1.4 Glass is clean, no marks of any kind that I can see. Probably some dust specs inside, but nothing to affect image quality. Aperture is snappy, no oil, fungus or haze. Barrel shows wear, scuffs, scrapes, but functions perfectly. Front and rear caps, front not Pentax. $50 plus shipping REDUCED -- see new pic added in reply below!

3. Vivitar A 28mm 2.8 Wide Angle. I was very surprised by this lens. It's a sharp, nice little lens. It focuses closely (though it isn't the "Close Focus" version). I bought this used, but body and glass look brand new to me. It is light and a little plasticky compared to the Pentax lenses, but it's a great little lens. $30 plus shipping.SOLD

I bought this flash along with a K10D that had less than 1000 clicks on it. It looked new when I bought it. I doubt it had much, if any, use. It comes with original case, stand and box. No manual. If you look closely, you may be able to see a faint mark from scotch tape (I once taped a piece of paper on it to use as a reflector). The mark is very faint, too faint to show in the pictures even though you're looking right at it. There is no residue from the tape. Other than that faint mark, this looks and operates as if it were brand new. I've used it for five or six family events.

Hopefully I've done this ad right. This is my first time selling on the Pentaxforums marketplace. I have bought a couple things, however, and you can see my 100% feedback on ebay under the seller name vjreusch.

Thanks for looking.

Swift1, nice shot of a beautiful dog. Looks like it was nearer the 17 than the 35. What breed(s) is he that gives him that beautiful brindle coat?

P.S. Nice to see a Minolta shooter. An XE-7 is my main film camera. Pentax is my digital format.

Here are a couple that show that the best camera is the camera you have with you. These were shot on a little plastic point and shoot camera I picked up in a pawn shop in a fishing village on an island south of Korea's mainland. I was on a bicycling trip and I stupidly thought that "lugging" the SLR in my bike bags would be too much trouble. I don't remember the brand of camera--maybe Fuji? I paid about $20 for it.

Dial up your 'Kx's and take all the not-quite-as-ugly high ISO shots you want. Have a ball with that for a week or two, and then watch yourself dial back down and start taking some quality photos. ISO seems to be the new Megapixel.

Nice photos. Tri-x 400 is so smoothly grained now compared to the older 400. For portraits, it's nice. But I sometimes wish for the older coarse 400, too. Anybody recommend a good coarse-grained b/w?

I don't want to shoot high ISO if I can help it. Low ISO is much better. The Kx looks great if you must shoot predominantly in high ISO. Most people don't. The Kx also seems like a great camera for the price in general, but high ISO ain't everything.

Yes. If you shoot jpg, this is meaningful. If you shoot raw, it isn't. And I'll say again, if you shoot jpg, the K7 fares better from 800 down, equal I think at 1600 in the few comparisons I've seen. This 1600 (800) down range incorporates the vast majority of the photos taken by the vast majority of shooters, and rightfully so. In any camera, lower is better. Buying the Kx over the K7 only for the high ISO would be kind of like buying a Ferrari to take the kids to school. There are some bragging rights, I suppose. If, on the other hand, you're considering price, weight, the whole package, that's different. Then the Kx can make a lot of sense for a lot of people. But a lot of people on this forum seem completely spellbound by this stop or so of ISO advantage.

To my eyes, comparing the K7 and Kx, the K7 is clearly better through 800 on those jpgs. At 1600, K7 starts to lose detail, and they look pretty equal. After that the K7 loses much detail to noise. I wouldn't regret that k7 choice, unless (very) high ISO is your holy grail.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but can someone clarify a bit about the ttl flash? I thought that digital wouldn't do ttl flash, and that's why we have the new pre-flash flash systems for DSLRs. How do the results compare to p-ttl?

Not only did professional photographer make the list of the ten most "Stressful Jobs that Pay Badly," this was the only career where 100% of respondents (how many? I don't know) said their jobs were stressful. Low pay, high stress. Good signs that your job is a labor of love.
