Samyang 85mm f/1.4 or SMC Pentax M 85mm f/2?

Funny this popped up today. I had just so happen to put the M 85/2 on my K5ii this afternoon. Not much bigger than my M50/1.7 Haven't had the 85 very long but have been very happy so far. I did get some PF wide open but have gotten great results otherwise both outside and with stills and speed lights. I've never used a Rokinon so I can't comment on how they compare but will say I enjoy shooting with the older Pentax lens. Just something about the feel. I guess I'm one vote for the M.

Playing around with the new to me M 85/2. Looking for things to try it out on. I thought what would be better than cameras to test out a new lens.

Just joining the M club after a good friend gifted me his like new ME Super with the M 50/1.7 attached. Had so much fun shooting manual again I bought a M85/2 and M28/2 from a couple of nice people here on the list. Got the 85 in the mail today and couldn't wait to try it out. I am impressed. The colors are amazing. I only adjusted exposure a little bit in LR. No increase in saturation at all.

K5ii, ISO 200 /320 @ F4

I was going through some old shots from a Chicago trip last year. I was looking for something to work on in Capture One to try out some new techniques. This is the one I settled on. K10D 43mm LTD.

I received a new to me Pentax Super Program last week and set out that day to run a test roll. I can say I am very happy with it. Here are a couple from that test in the woods.

Nice. I find as I go through all my old pictures and now negatives, these are the the kind of pictures I cherish the most.

The 50-135 was the first DA* and pro quality lens that I ever bought and it is still my favorite go to for family pictures and portrait work. As a matter of fact it is the one I pulled out this weekend when my son came in to town. I'll post that up in another thread.

Your daughter is beautiful, BTW. Enjoy those years.

That is nice! I haven't had a chance to break out the flash with the 16-50 yet. This gives me some inspiration!

Looks like a Ural in the first pick. Good example of a picture that doesn't have to be "Technically" correct to be interesting.

Thank you, It reminds me that I need to get out and do more walks like that. I chose B & W because it really was a dull, cloudy kind of day and I just thought that it suited the mood better than color did.

I chose the 43mm because it is my only prime and I wanted to keep the kit as small, light and simple as possible. We did a lot of walking that day :)

Thank you for the comments. I have been enjoying both lens since picking them up here a few weeks ago from a couple forum members. The cost is much less than new if you can get it. The tricky part is being the first to send in an offer. Things go quick.

The moon shot was handheld on an old K10D. I really like that lens!

Thanks Tony. I don't remember the name of the building in the first photo. It caught my eye with the overcast clouds reflecting on the surface. It is defiantly newer than those around it.
