That was my fault. I had owl in the initial description but corrected that in my second post.
I didn't know they were called nightjars, so cheers for that.

It is a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to find a second-hand Theta S for a bit over $100 - cheap enough that I could justify getting it just to see what it was. I think the "shoot first, frame later" ability is more interesting than presenting the full spherical photo in most cases. Oh, and I really want something with higher video resolution than the S - the "frame later" part is really wonderful in video. I believe the 4K and 5.xK resolution you get from the newest 360 cams will leave you with roughly 1080p when you crop it to fit a normal screen. The 1080p resolution of the S is far from enough to crop.

I made this little clip with the S. It demostrates both some of the creative possibilities with a 360 camera as well as the inadequate video resolution of the S.

Now these are some interesting shots.
My mate had a 360 camera a few years back and could never get a clean shot without him in it, haha. That's why I am hesitant to pull the trigger and buy one, I don't want to be in any of them

I have posted very few Theta images in "street view" form, but rather as variation over the tiny planet theme.

I am equally guilty of letting the V just sit idle. Maybe if more people posted we slackers would be inspired to take some post worthy photos. i know I should just do it myself. Could happen.

@severalsnakes posted quite a few theta pics in the past. She has a knack for using it creatively.

Thank you! Much appreciated. It should be a fairly speedy learning curve.
True, the editing software is 80% of the 'battle' to create a decent pano. I did that one in Lightroom and found it worked excellently.

Thanks! The first image required panning and a slightly long exposure., and several attempts to get the right composition and capture the dragon head.
The second image was a long exposure, and a good amount of trial and error to get the lighting right.

Here's another from last week

***I am always amazed at the DFA150-450mm bokeh for large tele, and the flare and fringe control is just stellar even with hard back-light shooting into the sky.
