I use a 200+1.4tc and see no shutter shake issues outdoors in Scotland and in reasonable to high wind. Live view zoomed in. I alter the ISO to maintain a high shutter speed. Close live view. 12 sec timer. MUP. Geared head. Gitzo tripod. All works well and as others have said its a good process to follow.
I can't imagine the faff and bother lugging around lens supports and the like

645z video: utter utter fail. It's all over the reviews that came out when it launched. The camerastore did a whole piece on it

Depends what you will be photographing with your other kit....
Smaller / lighter? I would have thought you'd be better off sticking with the same sensor. So a Sony a7r2. Or its previous version.
I went with a Sony rx100 3 as my scouting camera. Same sensor as the z. Less pixels. But fantastic files to work with. A tiny!
Faster work:
I have had Fuji gear: lenses are great but for fast moving stuff the autofocus is poor...xt1 included. Sold xe1&2, x100 and the Xt1. Kept all the lenses as I'm sure they will get there soon.
In the end I am glad I kept the 5d3 and lenses for events weddings etc

I suspect, given that we are talking about a niche brand within a niche area of photography, that you will be waiting a long time
Witness the distance between D and Z. Company take over, money invested etc etc all add up to : don't expect a new version any time soon.
You have to ask what they would gain in bringing in a new body in the next 24months? It's adding a cherry on top of an already sumptuous cake
Roll back to analog days...new bodies came along once in a blue moon. Take a look at the 67 history.
We have all got used to a perpetual release cycle that really is adding very little.
We don't suffer from a lack of camera. We suffer from a lack of photographers who actually own and use it. Or can get the most out of it.
Whenever I speak to Mf owners they discuss photographic art. How to improve. Where their vision is going. Not "oh I really need this feature to take me to the next level"
Lenses. Service. Firmware. That's where I hope they put their focus.
Incidentally: can / could anyone actually tell the difference in a print from 14bit to 16bit??? I strongly doubt it

Try the 12 sec timer if on a z. Helps a lot

I always use live view, 12second & MU timer (does the D have this?) with the my z and the 200fa plus 1.4. Essential. The 2sec doesn't cut it
I have no real world experience of the 2X but everything I have read suggests it's one to miss...

That's quite a statement. I don't find that's the case at all. The 200 with 1.4 is fantastic.

Are you using manual with live view or auto focus?
I find that using 200fa +1.4tc gives excellent results and is cheaper and lighter than the 300...

These are my lenses
Used for landscape and weddings
35mm A
45-85 FA
80-160 FA
200FA
120A
75FA
All second hand
All excellent at any given aperture
I use f16 / f22 without issue or concern. No customer has ever said a print they have bought suffers from defraction
I use the 75 wide open seeking the softer corners. I mean really a lens wide open and people want corner to corner sharpness???
You are only using the centre of the lens with a Z after all

The z is no heavier than a 5d3 with a grip. The mirror box makes it seem bigger.
The (old) primes from 35 - 200 are small light and magnificent
The zooms are large and heavy but optically amazing. The 80-160 on the z is like carrying around a 70-200 2.8 and gripped 5d3
I carry mine out into the wild. But then I used to lug large format around.
I love the size and using it in the cold or wet is a breeze
It is the very best camera I have ever used. End of. Portraits, events, landscapes.
A holga in a poor photographers hands can produce rubbish. The same for the z.
Learn the camera. Enjoy the experience. Learn how to coax every single pixel out of the files and then print print print.
I do not regret buying it at all. It has changed my image making for good.

The slope icu is not deep enough for the z. The flash socket will rub against the inside of the bag. I changed it for a large pro.
Agreed on the loka. Worked flawlessly back country skiing with gear in the Arctic
You don't have to fill the bag with gear of course even if you can!

No idea on film
On the Z it's fantastic for landscape work. No issues at all and certainly nothing that can't be tweaked in post.

Hi
this covers it: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-medium-format/262850-smc-pentax...ml#post2824175
I use the 35mm A for my landscape work on a 645z and it is a truly beautiful lens.
From experience, the A 45-80 and 80-160 have rotating lens fronts which makes careful composition and the use of graduated filters a PIA. That was the only reason I moved to the FA versions. Optically both FA and A are fantastic.
If you want to make a slight investment, the FA versions will be easier to sell off in the future
Don't forget that as and when you get a Z or D you will be using the sweet spot of the lenses anyway so A or FA doesn't matter

Shooting with LV engaged uses 2 camera actuations...worth thinking about.
Best to focus/compose then disengage. Use IR and MUP and 2sec timer if you can.
Anything 200 and above you really need to use the 12sec timer.
Don't forget that the fantastic ISO capabilities mean you can bump the ISO to get more realistic shutter speeds when using longish lenses

Hi
Can someone point me in the right direction for tips on this for my auto focus lenses?
I use LensAlign for my canon gear with great success.
I suspect that the 645z requires a more manual approach
Any help great fully received
