Hello Horst,
my Metz 48 AF doesn't read the focal distance as well when tilted or swiveled...so I guess it's by design...anyone can confirm this? Fortunately, I don't have any exposure problems with either the K7 or the K5.

Tudor

Hi Phil,
well...just trying to get an explanation :-)...I certainly remember I've played with the preview knob. As far as I remember nothing unusual happend...1300m altitude, windy weather...
But, it's a weird coincidence that the counter stopped at 499 shots. Why didn't it stopped at 451 or 632 ...or even better...956:((
Anyway, the whole thing is very fishy...
Thanks,
Tudor

Hello,
thanks for your kind responses. Unfortunately...I think I accidentaly switched to digital preview mode, or else I simply can't explain what happend.
I tried to reproduce the behaviour last night when I fired about 550 shots - unfortunately they were all there...:-)
Kind regards,
Tudor

Dear all,
I just received my K5 - pretty happy with it. Until today, when I went for a paragliding shootout.
Basically I've shot more that 800 pics - in the manner - shoot- review last- shoot again. During a break, I wanted to review all the shots - but surprise - there were actually saved only the first 499 shots - the other were lost :((.
I've checked that - and indeed, the last shot wasn't saved - despite the fact that-
a. removed card, inserted card
b. removed battery, inserted battery
c. deleted some pics - took some shots - they were not saved as well
Unfortunately, I've left the spare card in the K7 and the show was almost over
There were 2 subfolders in the DCIM folder- one had the 499 shots, the other one was empty. Grand total space occupied ~ 5 gb.
The card is a Transcend 16 gb class 10, never happend something similar with the K7. Perhaps, if I'll have the time tomorrow I'll see if I can reproduce this behaviour...
Any ideeas?
Kind regards,
Tudor
ps: anyway, enjoy one of the saved pics ...;-)

Dear all,
usually after taking pics, I remove the sd card from my camera, insert it into the sd card reader and transfer the pics.
Unfortunately, yesterday something very weird happend: as I inserted the card back into the K-7 I felt a sort of counterforce...stopped pushing...and when looked at the card, I saw that a small part near the lock lever was effectively chopped :-) by the K7. Obviously, the card is unusable - there are card error all over on the screen...
Honestly, I've inserted the card into the right position :-)...handling an sd card it's a habbit, something like eating...
Anybody experienced anything similar?
So...now I really need a new one - and I intend to buy a 16 gb class 10. Anybody experienced with Kingston or Kingmax? I've read that there might be some problems with class 10 cards...
Regards,
Tudor
ps: from now on, I'll only use the usb cable for transferrring pics...

I subscribe for the Pentax 1.4 TC - price for about 200 euros. I think that if i'll need extra reach, i'll just use it with the 60-250

Dear Pentaxians,
how about a Pentax K7 Gold version :) with integrated grip, dual dials (on the body + grip), dual sd cards and dual battery?
I'm using the grip all the time, but the design is sort of poor - you know - you have to take the grip down if you want to charge the body batttery too...
Bests,
Tudor

:-). i'm pretty aware of that - that's why i was asking.
but there might be also a little trick with oem equipment: some big brands produce their small equipment (grips, hoods, batteries, les caps, etc) with manufacturers like (let's say for the sake of the example) link delight, put the label 'Big Brand' on, and sell those pieces with a very high profit margin. in the mean time link delight produces own accesories based on the specs of the original designer, probably with lower quality control...and ofc, at a lower price ;-).
one example, and you can trust me om this: some p*** speedcat shoes were made until last year in Romania. they were made from scratch there and after that sent back to Germany, where they were labeld as 'Made in Vietnam', 'Made in Germany, etc', went through german qc and sold with 100 euros the pair across europe. shoes with an almost same design were found in Romania too ;-)
you may draw any conclusions ;)
best regards,
Tudor
ps: unfortunately electronics is nowdays not build to last...:(

looks nice indeed...:-) - and for half the money, i'd gladly renounce at the weather sealing...
if you look carefully if even has the sd card outline - like the original one.
still...if any pentaxian knows anything about this grip...:-)...if it's not working, in the end, i'll have to buy the original one. if pantacs would have only kept the k20d measures but with the k7 look and feeel ;;)
