F28/2.8 aperture ring is sticky
Posted By Another dyemention

I checked the lever and I would say they are both pretty close to the same. My wife though the 50 was slightly stiffer than the 28. The ring does not feel gritty at all but more feels like itís hanging up. Itís especially difficult to turn it past the A position. Again, Iím not worried about the ring itself as I wonít ever use it but it would seem to be ok other than that. Iíll try the lens out a few days and see if itís worth getting it CLAd or just returning it.

Thanks

F28/2.8 aperture ring is sticky

Hello, I just received an F28/2.8 that I purchased used, and the aperture ring is sticky. I compared it to my F 50/1.7 and that lens is very smooth. The aperture changes when on the camera but the ring worries me a bit. Is this something I should return the lens for? I donít foresee myself ever using the ring so I donít mind if itís sticky but I donít want the lens to stop working or damage my camera.

Thanks

My advice is don't buy a zoom and buy a prime instead. Something like the 35 you mentioned or the DA50/1.8. For me at least, a zoom was very distracting when trying to figure out what the camera did or how to frame a shot. I say buy a prime and focus on getting familiar with you camera and how exposure works. Having too many variables to deal with at once is overwhelming and frustrating. Once you get to a point where you need to quickly switch from one fl to another (like a birthday party for example), then look at zooms. And as far as which to choose (35 or 50) that depends on what you like shooting.

Item for Sale
DA 35/2.8 with non-working AF trade for DA 50/1.8

Asking Price
1.00 USD

Item Location
ohio (United States)

Item Description
I have a DA 35 macro that the AF stopped working on. A forum member suggested maybe the screws came loose and its an easy fix but I haven't looked into it. As I said, the auto-focus stopped working nor will the lens will focus at infinity. 4 feet, give or take, is about as far as you can focus with the lens. With that being said, the macro function still works perfectly if you don't mind manually focusing.

I am really just looking to trade this for a DA 50/1.8 but am open to offers.

I will get some pictures of, and with, the lens this week.

Thanks

Focusing issue with DA 35 macro

Hello everyone. I purchased a used DA 35 macro a few months ago and have had no issues with it until today. This morning it even worked fine. I went out this afternoon and now the lens won't focus on anything further away than a few inches. If I focus on something like an inch away from the lens, the scale is showing almost 2 meters distance. I can also hear like a scraping or squeezing noise in th lens when I focus manually. Anyone have this issue? Thanks

For Sale - Sold: For trade: FA 77 for DA 35 macro and DA 70

As the title says, I'm looking to trade my FA 77 for a DA 35 macro + DA 70. I'd sell my FA 77 for $650 so I'm willing to add a bit of cash to the deal if needed.

My 77 is in excellent condition and performs flawlessly. I literally have no issues with it and it's by far the best lens I've use in the three years since getting into photography. Only reason I'm willing to part with it is because my wife and I have our second child coming next month, we just bought a house, and I'm going to have very little budget for any camera gear.

The lens looks almost new and the glass is perfect except a small piece of dust behind the front element.

Ship conus.

Pm me with any questions.

Thanks

My son is in preK and just got his school pictures done. I'm not sure the details or pices but I know the pictures were just put on a site and we were given a password where we can go and order prints. If I were to do any kind of photography business, I would do the same. I know providing prints is not the majority of the work but it does cut down on some time if you just edit and upload to a site. Let the parents order what sizes and how many pictures they want. Like any business, you may not make any money the first few times but you will begin to get a feel for what to charge and what the parents wants are if you, say, charge $20 per picture and each additional is $10. Plus it could help with the families who are tight on money. You can always offer free Facebook quality images and then charge for prints too.

It's hard wanting to run a business and do what you enjoy at the same time. It's also hard to not let your morales and decency control your prices. From a business standpoint, I'd tell you don't sell anything to someone who can't afford it. Don't waste your time. Find some place where the parents will buy 20 pictures of their child from you. But not everyone can be that ruthless and committed - I know I can't. Just remember everything is a compromise and you have to find a middle ground on what you want and what you have to do in order to get what you want. And all of it takes time to learn. So even if you don't make money now, at least you're gaining experience and knowledge.

Landscape Took my wifes nx300 out for a spin

I bought an nx300 off the marketplace for my wife and took it out today. I have very little experience shooting with a wide angle lens but I'm happy with these for the most part. I tripod would've been nice. But I was pretty much just taking snaps. Not sure I could shoot exclusively without a VF but the tilting screen did come in handy.

Actually, I was looking in the wrong folder. Smh. Anyhow, so the dng files show up and when I go to import them, it just stays at 0% forever. So I'll let it run through lunch and see what happens.

The raw files don't show up when I go to import from my card. I do have the free version so maybe raw is included in the paid version. I'll look into it though. And really it's not a big deal as long as I have the settings close when I take the picture. I'm just spoiled with raw as I can pretty much turn any crappy picture into what I want in Lightroom lol.

Here are the three pictures I edited with Polarr. I literally spend about 2 minutes each on these. They're not the best but they're sufficient for our needs here. plus, if anyone is familiar with the FA 77 and its minimum focus distance, you can imagine how much I had to crop these. Its definitely hard not having the convenience of editing a raw file but I guess the images didn't come out that bad. Ill still try the other suggested programs and see what I like the best.

---------- Post added 10-28-16 at 03:43 AM ----------

And just for size reference for the amount of cropping I had to do. The cutter is about 1.5"-1.75" diameter and maybe 2.5" - 3" long. I briefly used to own an M100 macro, which I may pick up again just for work. While the 77 is a near perfect lens, I wouldn't want to use it for this kind of work.

I tried this one first as it was the easiest to download. I wish it supported raw. At least for the pictures I took today with my FA 77. I'll try posting them tomorrow. They came out ok but the color was kinda funky. I'm guessing it's because I shot in jpeg and I'm not familiar in the least with shooting in that format. Could've not had the WB set properly or something Ill start going down the line and trying all of the programs. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

I'm actually tossing around the idea of trading my 77 for a 70 and maybe another lens or two - depending on what they are obviously. I'll keep you in mind if I go that route.

I am the QC manager at a machine shop and need to take photos of our products from time to time for record keeping purposes. We've been using cell phones but the lighting is bad in here and the tools are usually shiny. So it messes with the exposure pretty bad. Plus we just can't get the detail we need with a cell phone. I've decided to use my k3 and a small light box but I'll need a very basic straightforward program to edit the pictures with. Just something to crop and adjust the exposure. Preferably free. Any suggestions?

Thanks

My pics are garbage! Why?

Not sure what is "crappy" about your pictures but one thing I've learned after almost 3 years into photography is that composition is one of the most important things. Other than correct exposure of course. Still to this day, I can't just go for a walk in the woods and get a decent picture. The exposure is good, the i,ages are sharp, but the composition is terrible. I'm happy with my portraits. I'm happy with my concert pictures. But there's just some stuff I can. It figure out how to photograph. And it's frustrating as hell. But when I do figure something out and my pictures come out as intended, it makes up for all the frustration and doubt and it's one of the most rewarding things I've done in my life.

There's a lot to learn so just stick with it.
