Your Best Photo+: RICOH IMAGING has renewed the condition of “Your best photo”.

Yes, I always use releases. If the model paid me for services and received their photos, the conditions of the contract have been met. If that's the case the question of the model doesn't apply here. If this is the case, I've already been paid for my work and there is no loss to me sending an image to Pentax.

The one term I don't like which photographers agree to is the images sent to Pentax must be unpublished. Pentax can choose to pay photographers for their images, and they should for new, unpublished work. But on the other side Pentax won't pay because they'll have 10,000 photos to sort through. No payment was necessary to get these, so I may as well help promote their (our) brand by sending them a quality image.

I have a specific image stolen at least 5-10 times a day from my blog. It's low-resolution, yet I can quantify its theft by doing a reverse image search through Google. I report it occasionally (depending on the hosting site), but most the time I don't. I don't like that it's stolen, especially because most of the time the image is used for false profile pictures on dating sites, FB, and LinkedIn. But I understand there's an acceptable cost of doing business, and posting images online opens up this possibility.

I'll submit an image. Why not? Especially if someone buys an FA Limited because they saw one of our photos.

Edit: I submitted an image. You have to specify camera settings. I used a shutter speed of 1/180s (flash sync) but they didn't have this option in the drop-down menu, so I selected 1/160.

To change mount, or not to change mount?

Why replace the camera's mount? Wouldn't be easier to get a cheap K- or M-series Pentax lens and replace the mount on the back of the Ultron lens? Then you can mount it on any of your Pentax cameras.

F* 250-600 on eBay for $5300

As well as owning an F* 250-600, I also have the Nikon 200-400 f/4. The Nikon is easier to use, but I enjoy the photos from the Pentax much more. The rendering quality is incredible.

I've never been a fan of zooms, but for birding I would much rather have a zoom than a fixed-focal-length lens.

My custom case (seen in the link above in an earlier post) is travel-approved and even equipped with TSA locks if I choose to check the case so I can carry-on my camera bag.

It's worth it. And it's not a collector's item, but then again I live so close to Yellowstone it's a lens I grab often. Actually I might be able to go a step closer and say this lens has saved my life because I didn't have to get closer to the bears. Take a look at the thread I created when I purchased this lens: Acquiring the F* 250-600 (LOTS of Photos) - PentaxForums.com

We should discuss this more if you're serious. It's my only F* lens, and I would love to add the FA* version to my FA* 24 and FA* 80-200.

Item for Sale
Pentax SV with Helios 44-2, Tele-Lentar 135/2.8, and m42 spacer

Asking Price
130.00 USD

Item Location
Utah (United States)

Item Description
This is a beautiful working Pentax SV. The wind lever feels incredible to move and the shutter sounds great when pressing the release button.

It's not a collector item, but a user's camera. There are scuffs and a few scratches on the prism housing, but everything works great. The leatherette is peeling away from the camera on the right, front side. See photos below for details. I bought it from KEH a few years ago and it came with the wear. I'm just simplifying my Pentax cameras to include K-mount only.

The lens works great.

I too have been hesitant to send my K-1 in for an upgrade. But I finally decided to submit the Precision Camera form tonight. The hand-held Pixel Shift and better AF sound like good improvements.

My email receipt has arrived, but for those who have upgraded through Precision, how long has it taken for them to contact you to have you ship the camera to them?

New old-stock Pentax K10D

The K10D is still an incredible camera, and unbeatable image quality at ISO 100. I still use mine regularly, depending on the shoot.

It took me a month to get used to the shutter release button on the K-1, due to it's firmness compared to the beautiful button on the K10D. I've also used the K20D, K-7, K-5ii, and K-3. None of them had as nice and sensitive shutter release button as the K10D. The rear screen shouldn't be dim, but it's not nearly as bright as the gap-less newer screens.

The WG-50 has 68MB internal memory. Before I left the country, I photographed my passport without an SD card loaded. I then protected the image so it couldn't be deleted, then loaded the SD card into the camera and went on my trip.
