New K-series DSLR under development to be exhibited

I'm not sure what he's trying to say... clearly, the APS-C flagship was approved (as it's officially promised).

Maybe he's thinking there are different prototypes under testing, and it's not decided yet which to make?
But it can't be that sort of competition he's describing - and the different versions would be made by the same team.

I believe it would be impossible to get an answer to this, but I'd really like to ask them, how long until a K1 version.

I like what I've seen so far, but going back to APS-C...

The SFn button might be part of the smart function dial system - the two dials added to the K1 - effectively replacing the marked dial.

It would definitely not be designed to peel off the LCD cover with a screwdriver.

It is fixed.
I would be slightly annoyed about it, but I can't stop laughing after seeing Fujifilm's announcement.

That is just the body shape; the LCD screen is fixed in the presented prototype. Possibly on the final product, too.

Not only the excellent ergonomics, but also the distinctive looks. They can't keep changing those.
Underneath, the chassis might be very different; the innards surely will be.

I have that lens myself - the FA, to be precise. For its age, it's quite good... yet it sits unused. I also have the D FA*.

There's a good reason why the D FA* is so much larger; why it is a much more complex optical design (and then, there's the ring-type SDM and a higher build quality). You can see it in the image quality it offers; but of course, if the FA is good enough for you, that's great.
I won't say I needed the D FA*; it was rather the irresistible perspective of getting the first truly high-end Pentax design in a long while.

Isn't it interesting, how such a Canon lens gets positive press and reviews, while our D FA* 50mm f/1.4 gets negative press and reviews? ;)

Are there internal procedures for such things? Have they asked Ricoh Imaging Japan for permission? Was there any meeting to decide on the course of action?

Time isn't an indication of anything; they don't have a full time employee to watch and respond to Twitter.

"Valuable bits (the medical side)"? So in your opinion, Pentax Imaging is not valuable? :p

IMO they might work on completely new cameras - they did that with the GR III, might do the same with Pentax. Changing the processor family and OS, changing everything else - stuff like that.
Unless we'll have a very quiet CP+, I see no reason to get worried.

It's the quiet(er) ones which are/will be buying.

Remember the ever present MILC requests? Most cases, the author should add, "not for me, I already have my Sony/Fuji/whatever".

I've read the question and reply... here's what I see:
- that guy or gal from Ricoh Imaging USA didn't say they won't release a camera this fall. He/she said they don't have the plans. Probably, Japan didn't sent them.
- Canon, Nikon and Sony were listening carefully... very carefully...

In a moment of optimism, I wonder - 5 years from now, how many Sigma lenses would still make sense for us to buy?
Already, there's the D FA* 50mm f/1.4 - why getting the 50mm 1.4 Art, or the 40mm f/1.4 Art? The upcoming 85mm might tell the same story.

Hmm...
Canon: 2 DSLRs this year, one not interesting at all, the other not the 7d MkII replacement people were looking for. No DSLR lenses.
Nikon: no DSLR and no DSLR lens this year (won't count pre-announcements).

Mark, that still has nothing to do with the assumption we're discussing.

Yes, the new products are selling and increased profitability. I never said they couldn't, I never said they're insignificant. Perhaps you're arguing on a different subject?
OTOH there are plenty of Pentax products, and I have a hard time believing that all of them make up for a fraction of the GR III (which is a niche product).
The Theta is a bit more complicated, Ricoh Imaging being a market leader; and it might see lot of business use. But I'm still asking for some proof.

But that has nothing to do with the assumption that "Pentax is only a small part" of Smart Vision/Ricoh Imaging.
