Has anyone tried Goo Gone?
I use it at work and though it contains petroleum distillates it is pretty mild.
Maybe I'll try it on my Bessa R film door when that gets sticky.

Kodak claims recent Ektachrome films are much more archival than earlier versions.

Interestingly though Kodachrome was superior in dark storage,
Ektachrome is said to fade less in continuous/frequent projection.

You're welcome.

I see this model is still listed for sale on the Adorama website.
Additional photos and information available there.

Not sure if those are dividers folded flat on the bottom of the main compartment.
Standard semi-rigid Domke insert doesn't seem to be included - or isn't shown.

NWOT Domke J-CHRON-VK bag

I made a halfhearted lowball offer on eBay; I was kind of surprised when seller accepted.
Oh well, you can never have too many Domke camera bags - or can you?

FWIW many (most?) of those mail order dealers were pretty unscrupulous.

Those published prices were seldom honored. They were invariably higher when you called or visited.
Further they would often use "bait and switch", e.g. substituting cheaper third party lenses in outfits.

It's fun to see those old ads for all that film gear, but I definitely don't miss those clip joints!

Old Ektachrome had a cool rendition compared to Kodachrome.
I preferred Kodachrome for its tendency towards warmer colors.
I also used Agfachrome, IIRC mostly because it was a bargain. :o

In this case a skylight filter (slightly pink) is probably a better choice than a UV.
When I finally use my new Ektachrome I may try my "Moose's" warming polarizer.

My daughter will be 24 years-old in October. By now influencing her is not very likely.
OTOH why shouldn't she have more cameras than one person can use, just like me?

Vinyl set to outsell CDs for first time since 1986

Does this mean there's hope for film? :)

LP album art has undeniable appeal. I enjoy the ritual of playing vinyl LP's.
But not so much the clicks and pops.

Given the choice today I still opt for CD over LP, mainly for convenience.
Most importantly I can play them in my car, where I do most of my music listening.

The first CD players sounded pretty awful, but they got much better quickly.
I'll bet most of today's cheap turntables sound pretty bad as well.

MX light meter LED brightness

Small world! I ditched a brand new Canon A-1 - forty years ago! - and have favored mechanical cameras ever since.

The Pentax KX I mentioned is in many respects the immediate predecessor of the MX.
It too is fully mechanical and uses 1.5V batteries solely to power the exposure meter,
which has a superb analog match-needle display - much easier to see in normal light.

The KX is only a bit larger than the MX; but the controls are less-crowded and so easier to use.
The KX body covers are made of slightly thicker metal, making the KX more rugged than the MX.

I had a very nice MX body that exhibited dim/erratic LED display.
I passed it on to another member who sent it to Eric Hendrickson.
AFAIK it is now functioning normally.

In UK Harrow Technical has closed but Robin Gowing is still accepting repairs.
Suggest you contact him for answers, suggestions and possible service.

That said if you typically shoot in normal to bright light and don't require winder capability or
interchangeable screens I highly recommend you consider purchase of a Pentax KX body.

Some people are fans of those, but most models from that era have not held up very well.
There's a recent thread in Rangefinder Forum featuring a bunch of Nikon AF 35mm SLRs.

SMC Pentax -M and -A 35/2.8 lenses are notorious for developing a sticky diaphragm, which even when properly serviced will recur.

The 35mm f/2.0 versions are desirable for a brighter SLR viewfinder image.
I saw no difference between my SMC Pentax-A 35/2 and -M lenses.
The K version is somewhat better.

The SMC Pentax (K) 35/3.5 lens image quality is best.
