This is the oldest winery in South Africa and was founded by

Napoléon Bonaparte, living in France, enjoyed and imported wine made by
a Dutchman, living in South Africa

I wanted to share something that surprised me with this lens. Most of the time when shooting
wildlife in Kruger National Wildlife Reserve this lens was always shooting at infinity. It was early,
near sunrise, and I wanted to get a shot of one of the many safari guides that were getting ready
to set off for the day. Although not properly in focus, I felt the bokeh @ f/4.0 was pleasing.
Keep in mind that though this is a auto-focus lens, it had to be focused manually with the ME super
camera and probably shot at 210mm.

I shot with a Nikon D700 for 5 years and couldn't bring myself to get the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 or f/4.0
due to the size and price. Planning for my South Africa trip I knew I needed a long lens and as a portrait
photographer I never owned any lens longer than 135mm (I got the 135mm f/2.5 back in the 80's)
Well, I got the above 70-210 cheap on eBay and, on film, it is good enough for me.

African safari shooting is similar to street photography as you never know what will present itself to you.
In this case, a herd of elephants decided to cross the road we were on, all at the same time. You could
almost reach out and touch some as they passed by our stopped safari vehicle.

I have a similar issue with my SFX. When I remove the lens and return it, along with removing the battery and re-seating it...brings it back to life.

It came with the SMC PENTAX-F ZOOM 24-50mm f/4 and the SMC PENTAX-F 70-210mm f/4-5.6 from eBay Japan.
Today I was shooting with my Pentax FA 28-70mm f4 as it is a fine zoom lens with IQ good enough for my needs.

In fact, I used my SFX today on my normal walk at the beach.(October 13th) It is very basic, a bit big and I love it.
Not so great for street photography because of the size and the winder is loud. But it focuses quickly and seems to
have a good light meter.

I was happy with my little "Super" and just grinned seeing folks shooting "seriously" with equipment that probably cost as much as my trip.
But then, I'm a very simple person and had very little stress enjoying my experience.

I noticed that my digital Fuji X camera would want to fill in shadows for me. I like shadows,
they are our friend. It is so nice to have more control over these kinds of things with a film camera.
