Thanks! I see my first day's effort (bottles photo from the 16th) has been rewarded by the Flickr gods with an Explore. So far so good :). Looking forward to getting into the full swing of things. One more shift at work today before 9 days of holiday, so I should have plenty of time to play over the next week.

Well, I haven't been here in a while and I'm late to the party for November. But I'd like to jump in anyway if it's alright with you all. I'm challenging myself to a month with the Olympus OM-D EM5ii and the Panny 25mm f:1.4. I've had the combo a while and it's never really clicked with me. But I would like it to. It has the potential to be a great lightweight walk-around kit. And I've been on a monochrome kick, so in that regard I'm in line with the month's theme. If I start now, my thirty days will of course run into December.

I'm trying to get caught up posting images from missing days. And I'm way behind on comments. The home internet has been dreadfully slow (especially with Flickr). Unfortunately there are no great connectivity options in my remote location, and I may try to find something slightly better when my current service contract expires. My cellular service is decent, but navigating this challenge by phone is a pain. I'll try my best to get back into the swing of things.

Lovely images, pathdoc! What film? I also have a recently Eric CLA'd Spotty F and the SMC Tak 50 Macro. Your shots may inspire me to take this combo out for a whirl.

Congrats! And mysterious ways indeed. I think, judging by the number of faves, my photo of the pup from the 2nd was also explored. I didn't think it was that great of a shot. This often happens when I return to Flickr after a prolonged absence. It's almost like the algorithm is saying "Welcome back, please don't leave again!"

I have the K 28/f:3.5 and it's great. I had a false start trying to single with it several months ago. I need to give it another go at some point.

I'm a little late to the party, but will do my part to fill out the ranks. Will be shooting with the A series 24mm f:2.8. Mostly on the K-1 for ultra-wides but also on the Olympus E-M5ii to try it out as a normal lens (48mm equivalent).

We discussed some of these things on the float - namely, how grand it would be to see the river and countryside as it was 500, 1000, or 10,000 years ago...

Ha! There's plenty of swamp booger country to the south of here. I grew up in South Louisiana. The beauty of these southern Mississippi hills is what drew my family to here many years ago.

A small aside: The town of Summit, MS, a few miles to the North was named such because it is the highest point on the railroad between New Orleans and Chicago. But that's not saying much when you consider the endless miles of corn flats... [emoji1]

I thoroughly enjoyed using the Katzeye split prism after installing it in my K-50, and would love a similar option for the K-1. I'm hesitant to try one of the focusingscreen-dot-com offerings until I've seen some user feedback. I'm subscribing to this thread hoping that such feedback is forthcoming.

I'm struggling with the concept of selling a few lenses as we speak. Yes, to fund new experiences. It would help fund that acoustic baritone guitar I've been eyeing. More accurately, It would help pay down the bill for said guitar that I've already run up on credit :o Of course it will be painful, and I know I will regret it. But damn, those deep tones are gonna be sweet.

In other news, I'm woefully behind on posting and commenting. I do have photos for most of my missing days, and I'll try to get them up over the weekend.

Sorry guys, no shot from yesterday and may not manage one today. I did spend some time this morning with my 21 year old son who is visiting for a few days. I decided to give him an early Christmas gift: My old K-50 with an A series 50mm f:1.7 affixed. I didn't want to wait because I want to impart as much knowledge as I can while he's here. I'll probably give him the DA 18 - 135 later but I want him to kick it old school for a while. After a brief tutorial on the basic controls and the exposure triangle, off hiking he went with the camera. Looking forward to seeing his shots, and I'm happy to have maybe inspired a young budding Pentaxian :)

Same here. It would be nearly impossible for me to comment on everyone's photos daily, but I'm doing my best to at least make the rounds every couple of days. Also, silly me: I'm using my last vacation day for the year, so I woke up in a Saturday frame of mind. Thinking it was the 10th, I've spent half the morning composing and shooting "blur" photos :D

First, congrats on the decision to make the move, and good luck in making a smooth transition!

The M 35mm f:2.8 seems the most versatile lens... but it would still be a tough choice. Even though bokeh is overrated, it would be nice to have something really fast for the occasional premium blurzzz.

Shooting with one lens for a year would be a noble endeavor, but one I doubt I would stick with for long. I've got too much glass to explore to stay lens monogamous. The photo per week, rather than per day, has some promise. If there were no brand limitation, I'd consider attempting one 4x5 large format shot per week with the the only lens I own for the medium: A 150mm Fujinon f:5.6. Basically a "normal" lens for 4x5. A weekly format would facilitate the much slower, deliberate process that using a view camera requires.

I missed the "Bokehcember" theme when skimming the intro to this month's challenge. Bokeh is not a strong suit of the K 28mm f:3.5, which is primarily a landscape lens. No worries though. It does do bokeh, though at can be a bit nervous at times. I'm glad I have the month to explore where it works and where it does not.

Thanks! And now that I'm no longer living the solo bachelor life, it'll be good to have a regular partner in crime for my shooting excursions. I'm already working on convincing wifey to participate in this or some of the other activities in the forums. She already has the requisite goods with her own K-5iis plus lenses :)

I've been debating getting back into SIC but simply have not had the time. It's been a months long build up to our wedding and as of 26 November, I'm now a happily married man :). And hopefully one who has a little more time for hobbies now that the wedding is in the rearview mirror. My apologies for the late entry. As I've just uploading a pic for Day 01, I suppose I'm committed for the month. Will be shooting with the K-1 and the SMC K series 28mm f:3.5 to round out the year. Cheers!
